I know i am young but I already have this problem and i smoke 6 cigarettes a day,who has maybe adults that went through this some advices abt how to stop?
I never went through it, tho I might know something that could help. I believe people smoke a lot when they're stressed, so you could find a way to get rid of that by running or other physical exercise instead of smoking. My old colleagues smoked a lot together, so surrounding yourself with nonsmokers could help as well. And at last, I don't know if that's available in Sweden as well, but here we have some sort of gum/tablets with the same taste as cigarettes but without nicotine. That's specifically made for people who want to quit smoking. Tho you have this problem, I think it's good you decide to quit and I hope this helps.
Hi @Roseeeee Sorry I dont have tips because i dont smoke at all. BUTTTT if anybody of the forum can help you also sometimes when you want to talk about that or other things you can ask ANYBODY and we will always try to help you and listen. I hope that you stop smoking and that it works!!!!!! 💪🙏🙏🌸🌸🌸
My dad was a heavy smoker for decades. Switching to e-cigs helped him a ton. I wouldn't call 6 cigarettes a day a real addiction, but you probably have habits in your routine that you need to be conscious about and quit. The real solution out of it is true willingness to stop: you start slowing down and then after a while you end up quitting for good!

That is a good tip i think!! Did you ever smoke @Etienne? Like sigarettes or the electronic ones? 🙄🙄
And Roseee do you only have normal sigarettes? If you have friends that smoke at school it will be very difficult after school and in the lunch break. But you can ask them not to do that with you or that you are not allowed to come. Because if they are real friends they will help you with it too!! 🙂

I think that if your friends at school dont help you and smoke with you if you hang together like for example after school or in the lunch break it is VERYYY difficult. Or you can maybe ask a friend to stay with you in school during the lunch break? So it is nicer and you are not alone and she can help you right. That is maybe a good idea. 🙂
Hi Roseeeee,
here is just a little story of our family:
As my daughter (24 years) told us a few days ago,
she secretly smoked when she was about 14 years old.
When we noticed smoke smell she pretended that it was only
because her friends smoked.
One day my husband (normaly a very calm person)
got very angry about her lying and he shouted that he will put her head
into the toilet bowl if he would ever find out that she smokes.
My daughter never touched a cigarette again, even though she knew
he would never do that. But she was so surprised/shocked of her fathers determination.
tips to stop = change ur perspective about your addiction, like is it what you exactly need? also, set your priorities and search for another addiction or activities that is more beneficial for you
i used to be a smoker, but i stop when the cigar starting to make my breath very short at the time i try to sing (i'm a vocalists in my teenage till 21, but i taking some break cause of this). but right now, after i took some medicine and lungs therapy, i can sing with a long breath (it's make me very happy).
maybe rose, try to think, is there something that you actually won't sacrifice cause of cigar? maybe your skin health? or maybe there's something that actually you need other than cigar? try to think again.. i know it's not easy, but doesn't mean you can't. goodluck @Roseeeee
update: i just read the previous respon of yours. if environment makes you smoke, than you need to honest to them that you want to stop, and explain why. i suggest you to bring up something that related to health issue.
cause my friends after knowing my health condition, they can accept and respect to my decision. and slowly they stopped smoking in front of me.
Hello Rose ! Firstly, that’s a really good thing you want to stop cigarettes ! We are proud of you !!! 👏 No matter the age you still can stop and get a healthy life in front of your eyes !
I have never smoked in my life, but I used to struggle as well with sugary food. Sugary food is another form of addiction, and like cigarettes, the dangers are so invisible, you don’t realize it until it gets worse, and I wish you to be okay. I thank God because I eventually managed to help myself stop my addiction, and I lost a lot of weight and preserved my health !!! You can also stop your cigarette addiction, I know people who managed to overcome it… Why not you ? 😉
Though don’t know if the things I’m about to suggest do work 100%, but you can always try them 🙂
According to some studies I heard about, the average craving for a cigarette (when you say "hey I want to smoke right now") lasts 3 minutes.
The moment your craving starts, try not thinking about it, do a couple breathing exercises in order to relieve and relax yourself from this craving.
So if your craving for cigarettes isn’t too strong, wait for a couple of minutes (3-4 minutes) by not enacting on it, and doing something else until your craving stops and you don’t want to smoke anymore.
If though, your craving lasts more than 3 minutes (like much more), try eating fruits, drink tea, chew in something such as a stick or bubble gum. Some people may recommend nicotine based gum, but it’s also pretty addictive if not managed properly, so I advise you against it.
I know most people find a form of fun or relaxation in smoking, but in order to stop you need to find other healthy alternatives to your craving in cigarettes. You see, the money you spend on cigarettes, you need to spend it somewhere better.
What do you like to do ? 🙂 Any sport you would like to practice ? Sport is an excellent way to deal with cigarette addiction, whether it’s running, tennis, anything you want !! Is there a hobby you always liked to do ? Drawing, reading, hanging out with friends, dancing, singing, etc…
If you still struggle to stop your addiction, I suggest you join groups online of people who can share advices about cigarette addiction, or talk to a doctor, your parents, your loved ones.
I honestly understand that this struggle might be really hard especially since it’s a strong addiction for a lot of people. But remember, WHEN THERE IS A WILL, THERE IS A WAY. 💪 If you have the definitive will to stop smoking, you may succeed !
Stay safe Rose, take care of you 🙂
