I'm studying Medicine to become a doctor and I like my studies because it's the perfect mixture of a scientific and social job! And so does my friend @suppo, too! Never forget, clinicians at a university hospital do research as well as helping people to recover! If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I would like maybe to do research for new medicines! 🙂 But i dont want to become a doctor or work in a hospital because if i say blood i am like ok BLOOODD!! Beng and I faint. 😵‍💫😵‍💫 So that is not a good idea. 😬 But in a laboratory that is possible of course and I think that would also be cool because it is also scientific and social.

We have to spend some hours in our biochemical laboratory, too, during the semester. I would recommend you to do an internship in a laboratory because the things I thought about the work there were completely different from the things I did there! Thank you for your reply! 🙂 I am now in second year of vwo in high school and we have mandatory chemistry and biology. But i think you still need study maybe medicine after high school? I will look up tomorrow but now I have to go to sleep or im a panda tomorrow!! 😛 Have a good night!! 🙂

Well, if you want to set your focus on developing new medicine you should rather think about studying biochemistry or pharmacy. Medicine is more for preparing you to work with people and doing a good job in diagnosis

Oh that is good to know. Chemistry is very difficult I think but I like it. But you need to get good grades or you cant study it I guess. But in my country after this year i have 4 more years before you can go to university. But that is ok because i can look it up and maybe later you can go to open days.

My timetable for this week's contains e.g. the following lessons: Inserting a venous catheter (first we practice on ourselves and then we do it on a real patient), pathology class (dissecting a dead body and watching what e.g. different forms of cancer look like and how to diagnose the reason of death), discussing about headache, first aid: how to intubate, neuroanatomy revision of important brain structures, statistics, some basics of physics and that's it.

I can only tell you about the situation in Gernany: Here it's difficult to get into Medicine unless you've got brilliant grades in your A-levels or good test results in the TMS

Thank you very much it is very nice that you give so much information!! But I will need to look up a LOTTT of things because i dont understand all the things but i like it a lot. I think it is very important work if you can help making new medicines. Being a doctor or nurse would also be very cool but i cant do what you said like that you have to do autopsy with a dead person!!!!! I cant do that. Even blood is REALLY not comfortable so I dont think that is possible. But i would like the most to work in health so i thought about being a researcher perhaps in medicines for a university perhaps. 🙂
