I love to read and always looking for new inspirations. What are your favourite books, which you could read again and again?
My favourites are "Narcissus and Goldmund" by Herman Hesse and "The house of the spirits" by Isabel Allende.
My all the time favorites are "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, "Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad, "The Master and Margarita" by Mihail Bulgakov, and "To the Lighthouse" by Virginia Woolf. I could read these four over and over again.

I think, it „Radetzymarsch“ is more Austrian, then German, because it tells the story of an Austrian family from 1859 till 1916. It is real epic and very sad, but great! 😃I was able to get a free Kindle version of "heart of darkness" although I prefer real books.
I have just read that Marcel Reich-Ranicki considered "Radetzkymarsch" as one of the most important German books.
I also love all books of Herman Hesse. I have read "All quiet on the Western Front" by Erich Maria Remarque.
I also love all books of Herman Hesse. I have read "All quiet on the Western Front" by Erich Maria Remarque.Oh, you love the books of Hesse? I found them very depressiv, especially: “Der Steppenwolf” and “Unterm Rad”. For me this is fiction about pure selfdestruction. But it is only my point of view. That’s why I love books…everyone has a personal interpretation😃
I like the writing style of Hesse. I admit "Der Steppenwolf" is extreme. When I read it, I didn't understand everything. At this stage of his life Hesse was very depressed and his life after the first world war was a burden for him. What I like about his books is the psychology and spirituality behind it. My favourite of him is "Narcissus and Goldmund".
Nowadays it's "Sophie's World". I can say it is the best novel I have ever read about philosophy. But sometimes I have to read a page once cz some facts are such deep. But I really love that book.
