Why is the age filter still restrictive even though I am 18? Alles en nog wat

It doesn't make any sense. I understand putting a filter in place for younger users to prevent adults from messaging them and to prevent them from seeking anyone that may be too old. I just turned 18 and I am looking to meet more adults. I don't have too much luck with people my age, that is why I want to find people older than me. It limits me from finding people past the age of 28 which is really frustrating.

I am not particular about age when it comes to meeting people. However, I am hesitant about messaging anyone that is too young, now that I am a legal adult.

yeah i hate that.I love the olds. They are wise and kind.Unlike most teenagers. They are stupid

Didn't know there was a filter. Maybe it is because many teenagers are on the app and that the people who made it are afraid them to get groomed? That being said, everyone could just make a fake account and pretend to be 15 while being a 53 years old bald dude so I don't get the point very much either.

Edit; ah, I can only contact people from 17 to 42 myself...

Hello,

Because of unsolicited messages, this is the temporary solution we decided to put in place to protect younger members. Of course it doesn't suit everyone, but it does work as intended for the majority of people - only a small minority of people are willing to talk with much younger/older members. I understand this isn't ideal though, so the long term solution will be to set an explicit age range to allow/block unwanted ages, but it takes a bit longer to build.

As surprising as it sounds, it happens very rarely. 🙂 Other mechanisms are in place to detect and block fake accounts.

Hope that helped
