I need help with learning the Russian language and about the culture. I’ve been loving the country for a long time now,and would like to know the truth about the country. My American family, teachers, friends and almost everyone I know says that it’s a terrible place to live and the government and people are terrible, but it’s a bit hard to believe for me. Maybe I’m just stubborn, but I won’t believe them 😂 😊

My father studied in Russia and he said it’s a really nice place; the people aren’t racist and they view you as equals. I also have a friend who is from Russia, and she teaches me a bit.
Hahahaha, so there is a question, have they ever been in Russia?
I'm curious why do they consider Russia terrible
No, they have never visited Russia and I’m guessing why they don’t like it is because the media and our schools only tell us negative stories and past things instead of good things. And keep in mind most of my friends are between 12-14 so they probably just go off of what their parents say. Another reason could be because our governments are rivals and we are taught that communism Is bad. I find it kind of funny because, they teach us that it’s a bad thing, but they won’t teach us why, how, or what it even is.

Communism is a theory or system of social organization in which all property is owned by the community/government and each person contributes and receives according to their ability and needs.

Aaaaaaaaah, I see. I'm very sorry to hear that you've been told only bad things about us. So they just jump into conclusions without doubts. If you know some Russians, if you communicate to them you'll see that we are not as terrible as they say about us. It is not really good to teach kids to be so negative.
Besides, there is long time no communism here. 🙂

Exactly, about the jumping to conclusions. I have a few Russian friends and they seem nicer than my American friends. 😂 And also, there is a saying here that Russians don’t like America and that they make fun of trump as much as we make fun of Putin. And also they say that Putin is a bad guy, and unfair, and that Russians hate him, and their is no freedoms or freedom to disagree with the government. Is this true, at least to some extent? (And also could I message you if I have anymore questions? You seem very knowledgeable. 😊)
As Russians say: "красота в глазах смотрящего." which means "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Same way we can also say that terribleness is in the mind of the beholder. If a mind is overloaded by false and manipulative facts since early ages, all you'd see nothing but a terrible image. I vehemently oppose with the biased fact dictating that Russia is a terrible place. Russia is a place with unique and individual character from its culture to architecture. Visitor may feel this "Russian spirit" but no one can describe what exactly it is. It is sort of a charmful magic. People are astonishingly kind and civilized. In mind set they have a "reinforced loneliness" throughout their history. Thus they are a bit cautious with outer world. But yet they are fairly friendly. Last but not least, every and each country has their own dynamics and they are not interchangeably valid. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Political freedom is a controversial concept after all.
