1. I would really like to forgive myself, for many different things. I would also like to still forgive that one friend who I told her many harsh things in the past even if she already had forgave me

3. I would never ever forgive cheating in a relationship because that just breaks trust, and for some reason I forgave my boyfriend who did that to me, I really regret that decision I made, and I still love him which is not right.

4. Forgiving would def make me feel weak, and it's true, it made me feel like an embarrassment.

5. The time my boyfriend cheated on me and right after, I forgave him, me and him are still dating and I regretted telling him I forgave him, plus he is still with that other girl. And every time that girl texts me, it just gets on my nerves. It's both their fault to be honest.

Thank u very much @AN3TT3!!!!!! I was with this topic a bit more uncertain to make it bc it is more difficult for a forum maybe to write abt that kind of stuff. But i chatted with smb who was super nice and she said that it was good to do that. So i posted it anyway!!!!!!! 😊😊

BUTTTT one thing i agree with u so 100000000%!!!!! Well more but i really wanted to let u know abt what u write abt question 4. Bc when i made the questions i thought that question 4 was super important bc i KNOWW everybody says that to forgive ppl u must be strong. And it is more difficult to forgive than like to hate smb. Maybe that is true BUTTTT also i think it is not true.

That is bc if u say to smb that it is ok when they did smt wrong: for me often that is a LOTTTT easier than to say it is NOTTT ok. Bc if u would do that u get a conflict and that is much more difficult to deal with that. So for me it feels easier to just say it is ok and i dont mind even if u do. It is faster and it goes away. BUTTTT also when u do that i always feel week bc ppl think u can just be push over bc u always say it is ok. So it can also make me feel really uncertain when i do that.

And i expected everybody would write that forgiving is not easy but difficult and u are stronger, when i read ur answer i feel often completely like that what u write!!! 🙏❤️🙏💯

But can i ask question abt what u write for 6: do u write text to apologise bc u dont have to look at them and it is more difficult to say or bc it is easier that u know for sure that u say what u wanted to say?

Thnxxx abbyy!!! If im honest i think for me would be both BUTTT i also know that sometimes it would maybe not be enough or maybe they would get angry if i would only send text so in that case i think i would try to say it. But i think with text it would be easier for me for both of the reasons. 😬🙄

I actually don't stay mad at people if it's not serious enough, so I don't have anyone to forgive.

A lot of people, I'm not someone very aware of social norms so I've probably made a lot of people confused or uncomfortable in real life.

Someone spitting in my food/drink or someone trying to harm someone I care about on purpose. Also anything that could leave lasting damage like scars or trauma, although there could be exceptions depending on how much the person is to blame and what their initial intentions were.

I think forgiving makes you strong because it shows you're loyal and that you're capable of assessing a situation without jumping to conclusions and sticking to them even when you're proved wrong. And if you never forgive people they'll just leave and you'll end up alone.

No, I never regret forgiving people, but sometimes I regret not being clear enough that the person's actions were harmful to me. I've never cried about it though.

I haven't been in a situation where that was needed, usually I just apologize and it's fine.

It takes a lot of strength to genuinely forgive someone. It is far too easy to be full of hate :')

Yup! A very mentally and physically hurtful person oversaw me for many years of my life. The first time I "forgave" them, I did not know how evil they were, and downplayed many of the things they did. Over time, person only revealed their true nature. I had to face the evil for what it truly was and forgive them🙏

Depends on the wrongdoing!

• If I missed a date or am late (super rare): Reschedule/arrive early/pay for something/bring something so there's some benefit😆

• If I said something offensive or behaved in an unChristlike way: Apologize/avoid doing or saying said thing.

• If I don't know what I did: Ask if I've done anything wrong/be there when they need me.

I forgive the coffee machine at our office for initiating the automated cleaning function moments before I had collected a pre-heated espresso cup for instant use. Our deeply rooted and enduring relationship has been tested on multiple occasions and mutual trust has not significantly eroded over time.

I would like to forgive my aunt who lives in Nanjing bc she accused us that we dont do enough for my grandmom in China and that she and my uncle do the most. BUTTTT my uncle already said it is not true and also my parents were really hurt bc it is super expensive to go to China and we cant go so often. And when for example my dad can or we all then we also go to China and try to take care of my grandmom. My uncle knows that already but he says that his wife is just frustrated a lot abt lot of things so that we should not mind it. But if that is true i want to forgive her bc it is not her fault too.

Anybody who i hurt and i should not have done it. Im not sure now who but if i forget than that person.

I dont forgive if smb is violent to u or racism bc i know what that feels like a LOTTT. I dont mean violence but racism.

I think it really depends. Bc what for example @Follower-of-Christ said i think is true that it can be more difficult to forgive but that is abt serious things. So with other things i am like @Nishu says if u for example forgive so ppl are not angry anymore and u dont get conflict bc is easier to say sorry BUTTTT ppl think u can be pushed over super easily bc u just say sorry in any case. I think that is maybe weak and i do that a lot. But what @Follower-of-Christ and also others said is strong of course.

I dont normally cry or really regret it bc if u just forgive so there is not a conflict maybe it is weak but i know i wud do it again so the troubles end quicker. So maybe yes it is weak but i know why i do it and i feel better abt it if everybody is ok again.

I just ask and wait until that person said what they want and not interrupt at all. And if they are angry or want yell or anything then u must accept it and wait bc that is the way they can say what they want. I have that a lot with my parents and my dad can talk REALLLLYYY strict and i always block anyway and dont know what to say. So in that case i just wait until he said what he wanted and after that it depends if i can say smt too.

Today bc there are a LOTTTT of things we say sorry abt but they are small. Like my friend was waiting outside when i was not yet ready with my bike and we normally go to school together but i just say sorry and it is np really. And today i forgive more ppl but small things like smb forgot to bring smt of me but i dont need it at all in the weekend so i dont care abt it and even if it would be super important then we can still meet in the city for example or that i come to get it from her when she has time. So it is only small things normally.

No i dont think so. For example when i was really small there was at our house a man and he wanted money bc my parents didnt pay for smt. And i was really small and i thought my parents had super big money problems. BUTTT they only forgot to pay smt and was not big deal. But i asked neighbours if they wanted to buy stuff from me that i have at home and they got super concerned and told my parents. And my dad felt really ashamed but i did not know what i did wrong. But i still said sorry bc i knew i did smt wrong even if i didnt understand it completely. So i think it still counts in that case if u say sorry.

It doesn’t make you weak. It shows that you’re able to put things aside, and move on in life. That doesn’t mean you need to lower completely your guard, but it just means maturity.

It wasn’t for something huge, but one day, I was supposed to call my cousin and I was in the middle of a lesson. I told myself I’d do it after the lesson is over (I didn’t know when it ended) but the teacher kept going on and it lasted three hours (don’t worry it’s normal in university) but I was sad, because I really wanted to call him and I felt guilty for making him wait for so long. Since we’re very close, he lovely forgave me as soon as I apologized.

And about me ? Actually, I do forgive people in my head. What I mean is, sometimes I remember things in middle school when people used to be quite brutal to each other, and since I can’t really contact the person anymore, I just think about it in my head and say "it’s okay I forgive you now" right like if they were in front of me

Well usually I’m the one who needs forgiveness for having been mad about something so silly. One day I was doing sports at home, and I don’t like being watched doing so. My brother stepped in, and since I felt uncomfortable I just got mad immediately even if he didn’t say anything wrong at all! At the end I apologized and he forgave me.

Personally, I don't really think so, because when someone does something wrong and comes to confess to you, maybe they haven't confessed everything and are still hiding part of the wrongdoing. But if you are able to forgive and the known wrong is rectified, then it's okay.

I don't think I have many things to forgive, so probably nobody. There are bad things of course, but I don't think they depend on me so I see no reason to forgive nor to even hold a grudge.

Forgiving demands a lot of energy and courage, especially when people around you would take it for a weakness. I believe only few people can forgive genuinely and move on without trying to make you pay for it later.

No regret. I'm not sure to understand the crying part, during the process or later? If later, no, if during the process of forgiving, I believe emotion, sadness and crying can be a full part of it since it helps expurgating all the weight on your heart.

It depends on what was done. Usually admitting wrongs, saying sorry for that and offering a way that this doesn't happen anymore/showing how you understood the situation.
Usually though, I think asking for forgiveness often happen during an argument for example, and it's not very planned.

I don't know. If there is not a good understanding of the wrongdoing, then it's bound to happen again. In this case, If not a complete knowledge (which seems unatainable), then at least a good grasp of what went wrong is recquired to (genuinely) ask for forgiveness and receive it. The goal in being forgiven, in my opinion, is not only to "restart", but to "restart and avoid further mistakes" because you would ideally like to get out of the cycle of pain, and it's already hard enough to achieve when you (or at very least try to) understand your wrongdoings, but it's nearly impossible if you don't show minimal comprehension.
When someone doesn't have minimal knowledge and understanding of the wrongdoing but asks for forgiveness, it sounds more like a trick to escape a tension than genuine request.

Now, you can still forgive somebody witout that person understanding their wrong nor asking for forgiveness, just as not to let yourself drown in the mud. In this case, it doesn't mean that you will build back te relationship as it was, or give back your trust, but that you decide not to move on and not keep the harm.
