Are you a "third culture kid" ?

A third culture kid is a person who was raised in a culture other than their parents' or the culture of their country of nationality, and also live in a different environment during a significant part of their child development years.
Therefore, it is a person who was born in a country, but whose parents were born in another country and have another culture. The child develops in a double culture with the one of their parents and the culture of their birthplace. The kid then develops a kind of identity that mixes both countries and cultures.
Third culture kids who are here on Penpal Gate, what are your origins ? Is the relation of your two countries, either between the peoples or between the governments, and how did you manage to develop a certain identity? How do you view your "third culture" ?
This is a very nice forum @Sabri_KC!! 😊😊 My parents were born in China in Nanjing and near Shanghai, but I was born in The Netherlands and I feel more Dutch than Chinese. And I also prefer to live here in my country now because i have friends here and i always lived here. And i think it is not only home but also a very nice country. 🧡🧡🧡 But at home we have a lot of Chinese rules and that is also important.
What would be your answers @Sabri_KC? And I think maybe @Esma-Nur this forum is also for you right? 😇🤗🤗 Maybe @Roseeeee 🌹 it is also for you but I think you feel more Italian than Swedish now right?

Because they are used to different things and i change between home culture and for example at school or with friends. But also things that you learn from home culture and that you use it for values if you are in other places. Like for example things that are important for us. 🙂

The challenge of finding my cultural identity as a "Third Culture Kid". I am BOTH French and Algerian, and if I could add two flags on my profile picture, I would do it.
Finding my cultural identity is somehow challenging, between two countries which had a difficult past, and have quite different and opposite values. Sometimes I feel accepted by both countries, sometimes I feel rejected by both countries.
But you know what ? In the midst of this challenge, stands my double identity. I lived in France throughout my entire life, but I also identify very much to the Algerian identity. It's up to you to choose your CULTURAL IDENTITY.
