Interview with @Miss_Penpal 02.07.2026
Thank you very much that I can interview you for the forum Miss_Penpal!! ππ I already wanted that some time but now with the vacation it is maybe MUCHHH easier for you to write answers!!! π So i have 20 questions but in each part i ask only 5!! And if you dont like a question i can change it of course!! π π
β β β β β β β β β β PART I
1: How long are you a member on PPG and what are the things that you like the most? What kind of forums do you like and what kind of chats and friends? And do you maybe have tips for @Etienne to make PPG nicer?
I didn't really keep track of how long I've been on Penpal Gate for, I don't even remember what year I started. My profile says I've been here for over two years, so let's go with that. There are no forums I dislike, but I prefer the ones that inform about updates or the ones that are like playing a game. And of course I like everyone who takes the time to write back, but I like it even more when the answers are a bit longer than a word or two, because it's a bit boring to keep a conversation going when there isn't any content in it. As for making Penpal Gate better, I think it's great already and I wouldn't want to pressure anyone with a huge project that looks small to us non-coders. But I could use a feature that tells when I've joined because I'm horrible at remembering dates, haha.
2: What is your homecity like and do you live in the centre or do you live in a different part of your city? And what is your neighbourhood like? What is the nicest place of your city that we must see if we would visit it? And is there a place that you like the most?
I live in Quebec City, a bit west of the city centre. The neighbourhood was not so bad when my family moved here, but over time the cute buildings and the few houses left got demolished to make bigger buildings that look like nothing. Our house is the only one left on our street and it's difficult to go from point A to point B from the house because of all the construction sites, we're pretty much surrounded at the moment. The part I like the most in the city is the Monique-Corriveau library, it's a church that was turned into a library. I like to go there because of course there are books, but there are also study rooms, computers you can use with a library card, movies and games you can rent, and there's also a room with puzzles you can do. And I would recommend visiting the Bois-de-Coulonge Park, it's a beautiful place to go take a walk.
3: Last years you were homeschooled and this year you went to school. Was it really different or the same what you expected? And how did the year go? If you can choose again: would you wanted to start earlier at the school or do you prefer to be homeschooled? And if you have children would you send them to school or also homeschool them?
Going to public school and being homeschooled are obviously very different, mostly because of the amount of people you get to see. I guessed accurately enough what the main changes would be before going, so I wasn't too surprised when I changed from homeschool to public school. At home, it was pretty lonely, especially after my siblings went back to public school while I continued to be homeschooled. It took some discipline to do all the work on time, and I also didn't have teachers for many of the subjects, I only learnt from books. That was a bit difficult, especially in math. In public school, I had much more support and help with the school subjects, but there was a lot of noise and people everywhere that I wasn't used to, and that was a big challenge for most of the year. I liked both my experiences equally, I don't prefer school over homeschool or vice versa. Both had their ups and downs, and I'm glad I did both instead of just one, but I don't prefer one over the other. I think because I was homeschooled for so long, I got to notice and appreciate the changes of the environment fully. When I have children, I'd like to make them try both and let them choose what they prefer. I'm not sure that will be possible, but it's what I'm hoping for.
4: What skills or talens do you have that people maybe dont expect from you? And is there a skill that you would LIKE to learn that you dont have yet?
I can solve one face of a Rubik's cube, but not the full thing yet. I'm still working on it. I can touch my head with my feet by making an 'O' with my body, I can fold my tongue and use it as a straw (like a bee!) and I can cross my eyes. Other than that, I think I learn things rather quickly if I actually try. There are a lot of skills I'd like to learn, for example learning multiple languages, getting very good at decorating cakes, learning how to repair clocks, learn figure skating, learn how to yodel, and I could go on forever because there are so many awesome things I don't know how to do yet.
5: What are three things that you would really love to do in the next 5 years and are your biggest dreams? And do you think that you will do that in next 5 years?
1. Graduate navigation school
2. Find a romantic partner
3. Make lasting friendships
I think those things are completely possible. The program at the navigation school lasts three or four years (I always forget which it is), so even if something goes wrong I should be done in five years. Making friends will be easier once I go to the navigation school, at least I think so, because I'll have interests in common with the people there and I'll see them almost every day. As for a romantic partner, that's a bit more tricky to know, but five years is a long time so I think it shouldn't be a problem.
Thank you very much for the first part of this interview @Miss_Penpal!! ππππ If anybody wants to ask a question or post a comment you can do that below β¬οΈβ¬οΈ or write @Miss_Penpal a message!! π More interviews of PPG members are on this page: overview of interviews.
