🇯🇲 Jamaica's national dish is Ackee and saltfish. That is the yellow fruit on the plate prepared with saltfish. We love to have it with breadfruit, plantains and avocado (we call it pear). Fun fact ! If the ackee isn't prepared properly it can be fatal for consumption ... it's really good though lol. It is a fruit and restricted in some countries. You want me to tell u more ?
Please do tell me about your national or favorite food, exotic or comfort foods 😋
🇩🇪 In Germany, we don't have a national dish because German cuisine is very
regionally influenced. However, my personal all-time favorite dish, which many people would consider typically German, is red cabbage with mashed potatoes and bratwurst. It's simple but delicious!
hiii @BambooBlue!! this forum is really nice!! Ok so these are 10 Dutch things but i am not going to tell what they are. So maybe you can guess and say what you would like to eat!! 😛😛
BTW we at our house DONT really eat Dutch food often at all but mostly Asian food. 😃 BUTTT you asked abt dishes from the home country so that is Dutch food and i am curious what maybe you would try or maybe others who read this forum what they know or would try.
Ackee and saltfish brings back fond memories of last summer. Seven days in a row A&S in the morning at our hotel in Negril and several times Butter chicken and other Jamaican delicacies in the afternoon and evening.
A favourite of our two daughters was JR chicken in Montego Bay on our way to Martha Brae. We tend to somewhat avoid the likes of McD/KFC in daily life, but vacation demands a more flexible approach. A divine experience according to our two little minions!
Definitely the tart . What's in the filling ? I am a pastry lover
It is called appelflap. So in it is apple but caramalised if that is the correct word. And outside is sugar. And if you like pastries maybe you like this:
and
So people in my country eat it at New Year's Eve and the first are oliebollen and the second are appelbeignets. I dont know really how to make them but @Fleurke has made them. And the appelbeignets are nice and taste a bit like the appelflappen BUTTTT they are softer. So the crust is not hard. And the oliebollen are HEAVY. So some ppl eat like 5 or more. But I eat 1 in the whole evening and it is enough but i prefer appelbeignets and 1 is enough for me too.
📸️ In Germany‘s deep South you can eat white sausages as breakfast
I think you really like to eat meat!!!! Bc i can remember from other forums too!!! 😛😛 If i eat red meat it feels like smb puts needles in your belly and i am not used to it. But i can eat chicken or seafood. 🙂
And Marie @Txya and @Piwipete i think the Dutch dishes are similar maybe like German dishes. I dont know the English or German word for stamppot but it is mashed potatoes and you mix that with for example cabbage or carrot but you keep it mashed without mixing. And the sausages that you have on the photos are a bit different bc we have rookworst but i dont know how that is made. But in English it is like smoke sausage if i translate it (but i dont know in German). But we dont really eat that at our home although my dad likes it, normally my mom cooks so we eat mostly only Asian!!!!! 🙂
@Yue_ I would definately enjoy the pastry. I'm hungry now , hahaha . If only food could be mailed same day . You have been very informative , thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I do love Asian food . What's your favorite Asian dish ?
