Hello everybody! πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ

Earlier we had a big forum about social media bans and it was also about TikTok. In our school this week we will speak about anorexia and TikTok recovery accounts. There was news about it in my country and we will discuss it in our class. I dont really like that subject to discuss in school but it is important too i think.

I will tell a little bit about it but before i do that i want to first say that i do NOT have anorexia and i DONT WATCH TikTok recovery accounts. That is really something i dont want to watch because it can get in your head too. πŸ™„πŸ™„

Anorexia means that you always believe that you are not thin enough and you are obsessed of your weight. And you can be VERY underweight and it can be dangerous and kill you.

If you are obese it is the opposite i think. So you think a lot about food or you think food helps you if you have other problems. And you can become overweight and of course that is also dangerous and it can also kill you.

On TikTok but also for example on YouTube there are recovery accounts and posts. Somebody who had weight problems like anorexia gives tips and tells what helped them. For example what can you do to become heavier in a healthy way and also about your mind. BUTTTT it can be super dangerous too. For example if you watch videos and somebody is A LOTTT thinner than you or eating baby food or with a tube or is maybe even in hospital, you can think i am not REALLY sick because it is not the same like them.

And also: if you think that you are not thin enough AND you see on social media others who are a MUCH thinner you maybe try to be as thin as that. πŸ™ That becomes like a competition who is thinner and that is of course super dangerous.

I have two questions (only who wants to really answer them):

1️⃣ Did you ever have weight problems?

2️⃣ And do you have tips for anybody who reads this forum how to solve the weight problems (also in your mind)?

If i have more time later i will add websites with tips. They are NOT recovery accounts but REAL health pages for anybody who can use it. And if you have really weight problems: the best advice is of course to speak with a doctor about it FIRST.

Thank you very much!! πŸ™πŸ™

PS: For this post I do not tag anybody because i know it is a very difficult subject and i dont want anybody to feel super stressed about it. So it is only for people who WANT to read this forum. πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

I forgot to add that if you like other lectures from PPG University you can see here an overview: https://penpal-gate.net/forum/12-everyday-life-and-customs/9008-ppg-university-news-report

I don't quite know about anorexia, but all i know, People who suffer from anorexia are caused by insecurities.

but mostly external factors plays a big role in this issue, such as unrealistic beauty standards and trauma due to judgment from people around us. and because of these factors, it creates issues within a person, they feel insecure, unattractive, unworthy, and any negative assumptions which are natural reactions when someone always get judge and bully. (CMIIW)

that's why we as humans, if we can't convey criticism in a diplomatic way, at least google the method first, or keep it in our thoughts. cause if you're careless, it will only lead hurting that person. eventhought they act like they don't care, or say don't worry, or it's fine, or hide it, but inside their deepest heart, it's different. (The human subconscious is more sensitive to every signals, so no matter how smart we hide it, spontaneous reactions can't lie.)

Cause i know, not everyone is the same, so I always apply a mirror attitude & different communication way which adapt to who I'm talking to. I guess that's what I learned in communication class

Thank you very much @mayuuram!! πŸ€—πŸ€— I think it is true that if people for example bully you or say things about how you look it is MUCH MORE hurting the other person than they maybe know. But that is the same with all bullying i think.

But ALSO if you hear someone not talking to YOU, but if people say that SOMEONE looks nice and she is thinner or if someone is popular and they look in some way that is also important. Because that is what people think is beautiful. So that can also cause it.

One quote i like and it is important is: "If you are underweight dont only change what you eat but also change your mirror." So it is not just eating but your mind too how you look at yourself. πŸͺžπŸͺžπŸ˜Ά
