Lan?

Chinese government is afraid that -similar to Russian Internet now - is influenced by western medias, which are much more free in their reports than in these both countries.

Lan?

local area network

There's no easy answer to that. Working with bans is not a good sign. But if social media is abused, that's not good either. Social media users really have a huge responsibility. But at the same time, they also have plenty of opportunities to check postings. Parents cannot escape their responsibility to deal with their children and social media. Schools can provide support with offers such as "online competence".

...and we have common sense.

Always stay relaxed.

The big problems are the AIs in these social media Networks. Its very important for people to know how these AIs works and why they lead you into bubbles by times

Why should someone be banned from bodybuilding and camper forums??🙄

Why should someone be banned from bodybuilding and camper forums??🙄

bcause they thought i was spamming (altough i only whas asking ab the consmuming f 2 very old vehicles), and they thought those forums here not places i belong.

In Australia is now a social media ban that they deleted a LOTTTT of social media. And also now in other countries there are bans too but i have to look up exactly where but it was also in Europe. 🙁 I hope that there are not too many new bans anymore.

Last week here in Germany, there was a talk show in which a member of the AfD was shown a video clip from a previous interview with a politician that had clearly been edited in a manipulative way.

Among other things, the clip dealt with the reasons why social media should be enforced for under-16s, because young people and children below this age are far too susceptible to such manipulation.

The AfD made extensive use of this in the 2024 European election campaign, when 16-year-olds were allowed to vote for the first time. The result was alarming, given how high the proportion of voters for right-wing parties in Europe was in this age group!

The AfD was under-represented for voters under 25. The Left has always targeted younger generations because, as you quite rightly pointed out, they are more susceptible to being influenced. This pattern is universal. Are you proof that adults can easily be manipulated as well ? 😉

They are working on banning social media in France too for teenagers under 15. As if one of the most tech savvy generations wouldn't be able to VPN their way out of this fortress, trick facial recognition systems, or migrate to platforms that haven't been banned yet. So much time and money wasted on designing and applying these pointless regulations. These people have good intentions but live on another planet

I hope that maybe Mimi can use VPN so she can come back again on PPG from china. And i also think that they should not ban but maybe that there are good rules or if smt happens than you can just report that and then i think there is not really a problem anymore. And if you watch too much than you can just have a rule for screen time bc that is normal in my country or that you cant use mobile in evening when it is too late or things like that bc that is better than completely ban everything.

I understand the intentions of this and completely agree that social media is a risk for any area of health and correct development of both the individual human and society.

But I agree with @Etienne on his take about natural selection. Preservation of the strongest. If we, for instance, design something that limits our screen time and forces us to leave social media and phones behind for the day, where is our use of mental capacity? our choices? we will stop using our will and strength to limit ourselves.

It’s idyllic to think that we are thinking beings, that we will have the capacity to choose when and how to leave social media. But honestly, these past years and how every generation to some degree have been becoming dependent on a mobile device to do everything, has shown that the concept of having a normal, unconscious will to decide when to disconnect is almost nonexistent.

If we give humans more tools to stop deciding ourselves when and how to do things, I think we’ll 100% have less self control.

Maybe I mixed words and concepts but I hope my opinion comes across correctly

Thnxxx Martiii!!!!! ❤️❤️ In my family when i first got my mobile than it was a rule to have screen time and when it was over than you cant use the phone. BUTTT a lot is on school app like for example if you dont have 1st class bc your teacher is sick or just also like things with messaging friends or groups it is lot easier. So that didnt work really but we have a rule like if you can give number bc that is for safety and also that in evening i leave it downstairs and not up in my room. And we also have rules abt for example that im now not on some apps that i want but a lot of my friends are. That is also difficult i think but i dont want to argue abt that bc that is not good in my family if my dad says smt you REALLY have to listen. So it is also very difficult sometimes and often others dont understand or they have super strong opinions abt it and i feel like in between it bc they dont understand anyway. 😶😶😶

It’s important that parents have rules for their kids. I’m sure they have a reason and I’m glad you listen to them! Some apps really suck. Like, I wouldn’t let my kids have X for example. I used to get into arguments to share opinions and people are sooo rude there! hahahah and I was really young, so until I grew up and learned how not to care I had a really bad time there

You forget one thing:

The dangerous fact of social media is the bubble devolpement in which you or everybody can get If you watch certain topics on those platforms.

And pre 16 years old youth hardly know about those algorythm.

And its hopeless to hope the Tech giants will Ban those ones.

Even China only allows Tik Tok for youth only a certain amount of hours per day. In their own country!

Thanksss Marti and i agree too abt X that i even dont use it at all. Bc now there is a lot that is just only fake news and with X it only goes faster than real news i think. And i also dont like if ppl are super agressive and think maybe others believe things faster if they act like super strong or bad. That way i just dont want to read it even at all.

But with some other things i think it is more difficult like Insta bc i think that my dad has old ways that he thinks abt it and he doesnt know enough abt it. And others can be really pushy from my friends or that they give opinions and i want defend my dad if they say stuff but also some things i dont like what he said but it is just a rule bc if he says that it is different maybe than in their families bc that is our tradition. But that is difficult to explain bc maybe they dont understand it i think.

Can everybody use social media in Argentina now Marti or maybe only some?
