Hello everybody! πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ

This is a new discussion forum! It is a bit like the True and false forum but more that people can say what they think instead of only stating True βœ… or false ❌. I hope that it is a nice way to discuss important things of the news or perhaps other topics. Everybody can put in questions or statements that people can discuss.

I am curious this time what everybody thinks of the following topics:

1️⃣ Do you think that adoption from another country should be allowed or not?

2️⃣ Which website does not exist yet, but would be very nice to have?

3️⃣ Must bullying at school or work be punished more (for example that schools can faster get bullies from school)? And do you think that it should be a crime like racism?

Thank you very much for anybody who wants to react to the topics above!! And if you have a statement for the discussion forum, you can of course also post it below. ⬇️⬇️ Thank you very much!! πŸ™πŸ™

For me the answers are:

1️⃣ Do you think that adoption from another country should be allowed or not?

In my country it is not allowed anymore because there was abuse of the rules and people get rich of it. But i dont know exactly what went wrong. I still think that in some countries it is MUCH safer if people have no parents and they are adopted and get a safe and nice life in for example my country. And of course they can be adopted by another family in their own country, but that does not always happen.

2️⃣ Which website does not exist yet, but would be very nice to have?

Perhaps a website where everybody can do a training for free in for example playing music or sports or crafts or other things where at the same time everybody logs in and you can chat or video call with a group of people who all like the same thing and you can give each other tips.

3️⃣ Must bullying at school or work be punished more (for example that schools can faster get bullies from school)? And do you think that it should be a crime like racism?

In case of racism it is a crime and maybe that should also be for bullying, but in any case i think that the schools must be MUCH harder against bullies and not only victims. Because often they give tips to victims and not doing anything to stop the bullying. So if it is the same like racism, they must do much more against it!!

@Yue_ thanks again for nice forum you will becomming a teacher i guess hhhh 1/I don't think so, because all over the world you see children who do not fully feel like themselves, who have emotional problems and fear of abandonment. Later they go on a very difficult search for their real parents. I do think, for example, that adoption in the country of origin is better, for example a girl or woman who has been raped and gives up her child. unwanted pregnancies of women who, for example, became pregnant later in life but do not want to keep the child. 2/I think you have almost everything already 3/I have freckles and was bullied about them throughout my time at school. So yes, that should be tackled harder. bullies are actually people who have miserable lives and are not satisfied with themselves. they have a feeling of inferiority and to feel better they constantly hurt other people of whom they are usually jealous. Being bullied is something you carry with you for the rest of your life. so yes, this should be punished more. I think not enough is being done at schools to solve this. Last year a boy committed suicide at my daughter's school due to severe bullying behavior online.

Alison is pretty much that, it has a lot of free courses. I don't think you can video call or chat with anyone on Alison, but there are more than one course for most things so you can just view another course for more tips on the subject you want to learn.

Thank you very much @Fleurke!! Those are really beautiful answers!! πŸ™πŸ™

And many thanks for the nice tip @Miss_Penpal!! I will check it out but I think that the idea with group video call or chat possibility is maybe nice to add for that site I guess! πŸ™‚ Do you use the website Alison a lot?

I would like an Italian website for pen palsπŸ™‚

I used it for school before, but not anymore. Sometimes I get ads that look interesting in my e-mails, and I go check out the course, but I don't use Alison much anymore.

1️⃣ Do you think that adoption from another country should be allowed or not?

It shouldn't be allowed no matter what. Unfortunately there is a pitch dark side of the coin: "trafficing of children." In 2022, the European Commission noted that just over 10,000 people were identified as being trafficked into the European Union in one year; of these 1,500 were children (approximately 1,150 girls and 350 boys) - In 2022, the USA issued Certification letters and Assistance letters to 2,264 non-US children; it noted that all of them had experienced labor trafficking, sex trafficking or both. Use of the child might be forced labour, sexual exploitation, children in armed forces, drug trades, medical research, child begging and the others I don't want to mention. Adoption would create a perfect legal framework in the use of trafficers. Children are sourced from orphanages or kidnapped, or parents may be tricked, cajoled or coerced into relinquishing custody. When children on the stake, good intentions doesn't justify bad actions. Dreadful to tell that the world is not black or white but a malicious shade of grey.

Thank you for your reply @diogenes_cask!! πŸ™πŸ™ We discussed this in our society class before the Christmas vacation and we thought that it was strange because our teacher said that people make profit from adoption. But we were like that is strange because you dont pay for adoption and i thought that you can also maybe help adopted children who are from very poor countries. And I know people who were adopted but they are now much older and they have a nice life. But if it is true that people make profit and many victims come from adoption like what you explained, I think that it should NOT be allowed.

In my country it is not allowed anymore if somebody is adopted from another country. But it IS allowed if a person is adopted from the same country (for example orphans or if a child needs to be in a different family and lives already in The Netherlands). And now they say that there are not enough families for adoption in this way because there is a super big waiting list. πŸ™„πŸ™„
