I've been seeing racist comments on Penpal Gate lately, on the forum. Stupid jokes about black people and concentration camps. @Etienne, do you think these comments are appropriate for Penpal Gate? If these comments are appropriate, then this site isn't for me.
Of course racism is not appropriate and if im right @Etienne banned several people some time ago. I also saw racist comments in LGBTI+ forum and they were all not even only jokes. But that forum was blocked. So i think @Etienne already does a lot to stop racism but is impossible to read EVERYTHING on the forum and stop everything that is not allowed i think. From all forums i think i read now maybe 10% because it goes too fast but that is ok because i just choose topics i like the most each time and just read that. But i think for Etienne is impossible to read even that much with all the other things.
I wrote some of those comments as well, but they had no intention to insult anyone. My jokes are part of dark humour and aimed at the stupid cultural norm which punishes the usage of the word n-... more than it punishes shooting and harrasment of those people. But I understand that I maybe went too far, so I will stop with it immediately.
For jokes i think is maybe better not if people are hurt but im more angry about racism if people mean it. But i think on PPG it is not so much like in real life. So that also means that here it is at least that people can talk about it and if it is really bad report. But in real life it is different because nobody really does anything about that and they dont care ORRR if they are with a group they just laugh about it and support each other. And i think what u mean is like dark humor and i think that is normally ok so long people are ok. But what they do goes MUCHHHH further and is not really humor but they just TRY DELIBERATE to hurt u. I think that is really bad but u cant say anything about it because then u get in more troubles even if the group gets angry.
With all due respect. You'll see these types of comments and content on any social media style site. Are you going to stop using IG or FB because people with extremist views or a questionable sense of humor are also there?
When I see people posting things I don't agree with or better yet, something I am diametrically opposed to, then I make a mental note that this particular person is best avoided, and if they message me, I don't message back.
@Etienne can't be there every minute of everyday to filter all the unpleasant things that are bound to pop up on PPG.

If they follow you shout as loud as possible so others can hear you and move to the crowded place. If they corner you, kick them into the testicles, poke them into the eyes, punch their beard, teeth, eyes or ears. You can also kick them into the knees, especially if they are overweight. Always retreat when you can, don't fight unless it's necessary. Always call the police if somebody follows you or has attacked you.

Normally they are groups hanging and they see u bike so they shout things at u but in that case is best to just bike and that u pretend that u dont hear them. That happens often but i never try stop because if u do that they can be in circle or make u stop really. I think that would be the biggest mistake or that u give big mouth back because then they get angry and maybe follow u. So it is maybe weaker to do nothing but that is safest i think.

I can bike super fast so it is ok and just pretend that u dont hear what they say. It is also tip for others if that happens!!!!

I think it is too fast if u dont like something that u leave immediately without talking even with ur friends because u let them down. I think it is better if we can just discuss topics and to hear what everybody thinks like happened above so everybody can give their opinion. If people say: ok i dont like it byee then nobody wants to discuss anything anymore because people may leave immediately if u say something wrong. How for example @Korisnik and @Based_Aura explained what they believe is good i think because it is in a nice and friendly way so even if u agree or not what their opinion is they stay respectful about it and want to talk about the topic. So i hope that u still read this and that u come back and just say what u think instead of just leaving. @Pennarossa2024: Not sure I appreciate the passive aggressiveness of your message out of the blue, or being called out like this.
Of course racist comments aren't "appropriate". You already know the answer: use the "Report" feature. Moderation is handled collectively. Feel free to start doing your part.
Additionally, at the end of the day people are responsible for what they say. Like @Based_Aura said, you'll see all types of comments on other social media.
Accounts are routinely either been banned or blocked over inappropriate comments, so it's not like this place is a no man's land either.

I'm not part of a "woke" community. I think certain topics shouldn't be taken lightly. When I started this discussion, I was thinking of someone like Dracula. He's been writing some very offensive things lately. He laughs like a five-year-old, but he's not a child. He laughs even when he should be serious. I don't think it's right to joke about black people or concentration camps. Maybe I'm the one who's wrong. I also want to say that I don't like bothering Etienne, and I know he can't control everything that's posted on the forum. I hope this discussion can be helpful to everyone.
I laughed at things that have been said. I have also told jokes that are acceptable here in Australia jokes and our men and women have laughed at I have made jokes about Michael Jackson i don’t believe it was racist about his nose and lips getting cut off I did not join penpal gate to offend or upset anybody I understand that every country’s humor is different I love laughing and I wanted to share some of my humor and if someone thought it was funny that’s what it was about even know there silly to some. I’m not going to squash someone because I don’t think there funny or I don’t like what they say.
