It seems like a confederation to me. What exactly blocks California and Texas to step out of the USA? I'm asking because I've heard that separatistic movements are not little there
Legally, there is no constitutional mechanism for a state to leave the United States; the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the 1869 case Texas v. White that states cannot unilaterally secede. The only legal pathways out are a constitutional amendment or revolution.
Unlike states, non-state territories can legally leave the United States, but they cannot do it alone. U.S. territories are not part of the permanent "indestructible Union" described by the Supreme Court. While it is true that modern separatist groups like the Texas Nationalist Movement ("Texit") and various "Calexit" campaigns in California get a lot of news coverage, they face insurmountable legal and practical barriers.

I’m considering Elementary Education. I only know how the government works through AP Gov so I can explain it to my future class.
