Despite a rather strict Catholic upbringing, I can say that at my age, I no longer really have a religion. An objective reading of the Bible leads me to believe it is merely an old book filled with absurd legends and barbaric practices. The Catholic Church loudly proclaims peace and love for one's neighbor, all while overlooking the centuries of past persecution and massacres in which the organization took part. More recently, the revelation of violence and abuse perpetrated by certain members of the clergy has only reinforced my rejection of the faith. Nevertheless, I continue to attend certain ceremonies—such as funerals, weddings, or baptisms. I am culturally Catholic and cannot shake off certain practices that mark important moments in family or community life, but it goes no further than that.
Like I've already explained earlier on Life after death forum, you can't read the Bible like an ordinary book. I agree that some Church members did the horrible things, but you don't come in Church because of the priests, you come because of Jesus who has found it. That's the same if you say that all atheists are terrible people if you take some bad atheist as an example. Unfortunately scumbags are present in every religion and in every society. What about Church members who have excellent behaviour? Why they're often forgotten to be mentioned in critiques?
To continue, those clergy members who misbehave, what happen to them after that? Sometimes they get excommunicated and Church always cooperates with the justice system in those cases. Something you also forgot to mention. I think that the procedures for dealing with the same type of behaviour within Orthodox and Protestant Churches are quite similar.
The original question of the forum author is which religion do you follow, not which religion do you hate or which religion you don't follow.
@Ru_phd, instead of having mouth full of so-called tolerance, you should start to use your own head. Satanism literally promotes violence, hate, and intolerance (the thing which you claim to bother you so much and I agree with you on that part, but you still have to learn the difference between tolerance and 'tolerance'). For example check your own and @Froggy56's comments - nobody has reacted badly to them, because both of you engaged in discussion in a respectful way. Personally I find that very nice and I like that very much, even if I disagree with those claims.
@Yue_ I respect every religion except Satanism. As far as I know, every religion except Satanism has at least bare minimum of morality in itself. Satanism is the only religion which has 100% of evilness and 0% of morality. @Viovio_Sheronsky1205 is probably not fully aware of that.
If I may be completely honest. I am sick of abuse of the word 'tolerance'. Nowadays if you politely disagree with anything, they proclaim you as a hater and disrespectful. The paradox of the modern era is that everybody can have different opinions, but all of those opinions mustn't be in contrast with the mainstream opinion. Actually, that's the definition of totalitarism and intolerance.
We aren't enemies to each others. Our only enemies are Satan and his demons. The sooner you get that, the better.
