What do you think of a Latin Republic that includes all the nations where a Latin language is spoken ? Except Romania

Imagine a nation that includes Italy, Istria in Slovenia and Croatia, the Canton of Ticino in Switzerland, France, Spain, Portugal, the Principality of Andorra, the Principality of Monaco, the Serenissima Republic of San Marino, and the Vatican City. Do you think it would be a world power? Obviously, Romania is excluded because it is too detached.

The question is, why should these countries unite in a single nation, apart from the language roots? Belonging to a country goes beyond convenience.

lol because of ww2?

?

What do you mean?

WWII basically made a forced union impossible — it pumped up nationalism, totally messed with borders, and proved that just working together is way more doable than trying to make one huge state. 😅

I agree with that. I don’t believe that a single, huge nation is possible in Europe. Countries have identities that are too strong and too much historical baggage. Alliances are much more doable, as long as there is a common goal ..or enemy. 😅

Dude are you secretly plotting a new Roman Empire? I think I had enough of secret organisations and schemes for now

I think, that state would implode before it will be founded! What has a Ticino common with a Southern Spain or a Croatian?

If you manage to by any chance make it like a confederation as in EU, then we'd 100% be like EU, but worse. Basically a worsen version off the worst economical region of the world 🤣🤣🤣

If you make a real country out of them, it's instant collapse 🤣
It's like living with your uncle, cousins and dramaqueen little sister. You are all the same, but you know it's not going to go well more than 2 days, not counting the little cousin that will yell before you even are in the same house.

To put it with more details and in my opinion:
We do have more in common than we do have with UK or Germany for instance. We would have massive soft power, best tourism any state would ever dream of, controle key regions like the western mediterranean sea and even have the nuclear power for defense, but apart from that? Huge drama.
We don't speak the same language, we have hyper centralized countries (France) vs decentralized (Italy), tax haven (Monaco), direct democracy (Switzerland) and a plethora of nations already not so happy (Catalonia, Corsica, Basque countries...).

Mix them up together and you have either the best joke of the world if like EU, or instant collapse with regions rioting before you get to sing your anthem for the first time.

Italy, France or Spain are the results of different nations being united together by force though. I doubt you still consider yourself as a citizen of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany rather than an Italian, or do you?
If forced union were so impossible, would countries reach their current size? Also what is meant by "working together"? If you mention European Union, it rather looks like it works towards mutual destruction, or implosion.

blind hatred for french, i guess

That can not provide electricity to Olympics xD

Blind hatred for french... what nonsense! I like France! But I have the impression that these "Super-states" do not work, because they never have a usual foundation... there is the mism with the so-called "European Union"... Where is this "union"? I see only national selfishness and liking for money!

I guess it cannot work either, but because blind hatred for the French is a common traits to most nations in the world, including some "French" themselves 😂
For EU, we are not finished to suffer in the union that "makes us stronger and able to face giants we couldn't face otherwise".
