I want know your opinions about the possibility for a civilian to own weapons

I'm from Italy and my opinion is yes

Obviously with rules, I want avoid the risk to give guns at criminals or unskilled people

So control from authority and doctor can be a good compromise for this right

But for me, a civilian should own full automatic rifle, pistol, grenades, tank and other thing if want

I take Switzerland, Poland, Czech Republic, Malta as virtuous example for owing firearms

So, what do you think about this?

Guns only for self deffense. My family and I have been thinking about buying a airbucks, but still havent done it.

Even for sport, hunt and collection

If you can forbid one, in the future you can forbid the others

I am really against it that ppl can own guns and other weapons like that.

Even for sel deffense?

You can be sure the bad guys are well armed. No matter if it is legal or not.

fore sure. Last time in France in Brioude, Haute-Loire we were walking in the street, and a bunch of police men walked into our derection with machine guns in the hands. It was totally crazy!

@Vulkan_efesto, i thought that the 1600s where a long time ago.

when alowing all the arms to every lunatic we would be back to be an animal.

i think we schould make rules we have to stick with them and let some authority check it. if you do not like the rules, leave that country immediately and go where it suits you. so leave Italy and move to Poland. All wins.

Even for sel deffense?

Yes bc people can also say it is just for self defense. In my country a LOTTT of crimes are now that they stab people with knives they just buy in the shop. But if the can get guns it will be much bigger as problem. And i dont want things like in US with shootings in school which happen several times every year which is in the news.

I know that really big criminals can get them anyway but a LOT of crimes of others are now with knives and they will be with guns if you can buy them in the store. And even if they cant buy it, then other people can get them. And the more guns there are that also means the more guns get to the wrong persons who can use them wrongly. And if is even bigger weapons as what @Vulkan_efesto said the bigger the problem. So i think it should only be police and armies that can have them and not normal persons.

My brothers and I, and sometimes also my parents, allways walk around with knifes, not really as self deffense, but there are also other things they become useful for, such as cutting bread.

I think there is not really smt wrong with that but in my country there are lot of attacks that people stab you with knives. So if they would get more than knives it becomes even more dangerous than that i think.

I have never walk around with a knife. What for? Cutting bread I am doing at home and so should my knives be there.

Ore what about cutting a cord? Very useful on a farm.

ok thats the point. I do not live on a farm.

I myself am against guns because they can kill people from a distance. Now I know that anything can be a weapon 🔪 but most things you can use as a weapon you have to be close enough to the person. And because I'm someone who knows what the Bible says about not killing people and that's all guns are good for that's why I'm completely against them. Plus I've heard of people who have been killed or got hurt by accident with a gun. I mean accidents can happen. Now yes I know some people might be ok with shooting someone in the foot or something in self defense. And I get that but still I don't feel comfortable with a gun in the house and I'm glad that my family respects that. And kids have brought guns to school so it looks like they do more harm than good. So it would be nice if they would get banned 🚫 🔫

That may never happen but so many things have gone wrong and so many people have died because of this murder gadget.

This is the reason why I believe people should have the "right to bear arms", as we say in the US. Even though guns are illegal in lots of countries, people there who want a gun can get one illegally. All the mass shooting incidents in the US get sensationalized by the media. Gun shootings are a money maker for the media unfortunately.

In my opinion, it's not guns which kill people. People kill people. We've seen incidents where people use cars to run over people. We're not going to ban the use of cars, which can be used as weapons to kill 20 people at a time easily.

I don't know if it's an American view that guns owned by the public are a deterrent against foreign and internal invaders. Americans need to have to ability to overthrow our government if needed. I don't know if people in other countries feel they need a greater ability to overthrow their government if necessary. How much of a deterrent is it when there are more guns in a country than people if a foreign country decides to go to war with your country?

I like getting opinions about this topic from people around the world.

I think guns should be allowed, but you'd need a license to get one. It's like that for other dangerous machines, for example vehicles. Since illegal firearms are always a risk, I think the civilians should be allowed to defend themselves.

In Canada, to get a gun, you must successfully complete the Canadian Firearms Safety Course, apply for a Possession and Acquisition Licence, and THEN purchase the firearm. I think that's a good way to keep things under control, but maybe other precautions could be added, for example when you enter certain buildings you have to leave your firearm to the security guard's desk(kind of like when you have to leave your phone with the teacher at school).

And I think it's stupid that you have to be a certain age to be able to get a gun. Teenagers and children can also be targets, therefore they should be allowed to defend themselves as well. I agree that giving a 5 year old a gun isn't a good idea, but like I said above there should be a necessary license first and a class to understand the necessary safety aspects of the gun. As long as you prove that you're mature enough to know how to properly use a firearm, I really don't see the relevance of age.

Police officers and military forces dont walk around with license, but they do cary guns.
