Hi, imagine that such a map is placed around a sphere. Just like you would wrap a present, for example.

It doesn't matter whether one object is a ball and the other a square piece of paper.

The other phenomenon you mention is the curvature of the earth. Imagine that there is a tree right next to you. It is exactly 10 meters tall. If you move 1 kilometer away and look at the tree again, it has lost 80 millimeters in height. Another example would be: The flight altitude of an airplane is approximately 10.5 kilometers. This is not enough to actually see the curvature of the earth. You would have to fly about 15 kilometers high.

i dont quit understand, do you mean you rather think the world ís round?

@Soulfly , please write me a mss would you? i reach my daily quotas, so i cant write you a message, nor write you a comment, thx 🙂

and @Etienne , could you please remove those "daily quotas" away? they are very unhandy, thx 🙂

Such a debate in our time is really incongruous. Have you been to school LandRoverDiscovery? Are you one of those people called "flat earthers"?

I want to say somehing off the topic: I bet with u all 2030 LATEST will be the 3WW! (I bet with…?)

You are welcome to have a different opinion and certainly express a different opinion.

But the way you are reacting is inappropriate. Please be polite next time.

I really have no good feeling about the future. Perhaps we should all do our best to make our planet a good, healthy and fair place for us all?

yes, i am and i am very proud of it 😃

About two thousand two hundred years ago a man calculated with rudimentary means what the circumference of the Earth could be. Long before this date other people had already hypothesized that the Earth could be spherical. This brilliant mind had noticed that on the day of the summer solstice, the sun did not cast any shadow in a well he concluded that the Sun, the well and the center of the Earth were perfectly aligned. The same day in Alexandria one of his friends measured the angle that the shadow of the sun drew from a vertical stick. After measuring with the steps of a camel the distance between these two points, he deduced a distance of 39500km, a minimal error compared to the 40003km that the satellite systems have measured. I remain in awe of this intellectual feat that Eratosthenes accomplished so long ago and that few people today could imagine

If quotas are removed it will become harder to fight spammers and other malicious users. I think the current numbers are fair. At best it could be loosely adjusted over time for long time users like here in the forum.

If you believe the Earth is flat, it would be cool if you could provide a picture its edges. Unless satellites are fake too, in which case GPS is imaginary technology 🤷️. Likewise it shouldn't be possible to only take a couple hours to fly from Eastern Russia to Alaska if they weren't next to each other.

@Etienne look in the ppg map

@anil who tells me that 2000 years ago is truth?

and @anil , yes im never going to school

A map projection is any of a broad set of transformations employed to represent the curved two-dimensional surface of a globe on a plane. All projections of a sphere on a plane necessarily distort the surface in some way. Depending on the purpose of the map, some distortions are acceptable and others are not; therefore, different map projections exist in order to preserve some properties of the sphere-like body at the expense of other properties. The map in PPG, is a Mercator projection. The Mercator projection exaggerates areas far from the equator; the closer to the poles of the Earth, the greater the distortion. Critics consider the projection unsuitable for general world maps. It has been conjectured to have influenced people's views of the world: because it shows countries near the Equator as too small when compared to those of Europe and North America, it has been supposed to cause people to consider those countries as less important.

yes, but the ppg map shows all the countrys, that means that a global earth aint truth, ore there are countrys we mat not see.

I stated before, to show all the countries, the sizes are heavily distorted. We can see anything if we transform something 3D onto a 2D plane in irregular scales.

Since ancient times, the idea of the Earth's shape has been a topic of debate and debate among humans.

With the advancement of science and technology, it has become certain that the Earth is spherical. There is many scientific and logical evidence that proves this, and we can easily observe it in our daily lives.

The first clear evidence is images taken by satellites and astronauts. From outer space, the Earth clearly appears spherical, and these images represent a tangible and undeniable reality.

In addition, if you stand on a beach and see a ship moving away towards the horizon, you will notice that it gradually disappears from the bottom up.

This happens because the Earth's surface is curved, and if the Earth were flat, you would see the ship disappear all at once. Flights provide further evidence that the Earth is round.

When planes travel between continents, they follow curved paths.

The reason for this is the Earth's spherical shape, so these paths are shorter and more efficient. If the Earth were flat, all travel would be perfectly straight, which is not true. In natural phenomena, we find another strong evidence during a lunar eclipse.

When the Earth is located between the Sun and the Moon, our planet casts a circular shadow on the Moon's surface.

This shadow could not be constantly circular if the Earth were not spherical.

And from heaven, too, we find further evidence. The stars you see in the sky vary depending on where you are on Earth. If you are in the Northern Hemisphere, you will see a different star cluster than you would in the Southern Hemisphere.

This change only happens if the Earth is spherical, because you are moving across its curved surface. All of this evidence, whether from space images, natural phenomena, or even from our daily experiences, conclusively confirms that the Earth is spherical. It is not just a theory, but a scientific fact proven hundreds of years ago, which makes us see the beauty of the universe around us more clearly.
