My favourite authors is Anton Chekhov. He was a Russian writer and an honorary academician of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences. He began his career writing satirical sketches and short humorous stories. The main themes of his work include the intellectual and moral struggles of the Russian intelligentsia, dissatisfaction with the petty lives of some characters, and the quiet, resigned acceptance of life’s banality by others. In his plays Chekhov created a unique, emotionally charged atmosphere full of subtle tension and a sense of impending change. His typical protagonist is an ordinary person, occupied with everyday concerns and quietly enduring the complexities of life.
