  • I always enjoy talking about...

I always enjoy talking about music, art, travel, mental health/social justice, and pop culture. And movies!
I listen to a lot of rnb , Motown, 60s to 80s music and kmusic. I would love to get into other genres like German hip-hop, Japanese disco, and so on. Some artists I've been listening to recently are Cuco, Crush, NCT, and The Supremes. If you have music you think I might be interested in please share with me!!

As a college art student, I feel like I can only learn more and more about artists all over the world. I really love illustration and animation! As a kid, I was a Disney/Pixar and Studio Ghibli fan.

Mental health, BLM, and social justice are newer voices for me. I've been learning much more about myself throughout college and learning new ways to be nicer to myself, interact with others, and still live and act by my own values.

I love going to the movie theater (before quarantine😷)! I really miss going out to see movies. I like animated films and (social) thriller/horror the most. Some of my favorite movies are: Coco, Ratatouille, Us, Hereditary (I like this movie but it also scares me--- I can't decide), I'll have to think of more...
Let me know what movies you like~

  • Cities and countries I have visited

Living near San Francisco, CA has exposed me to people of various backgrounds--which makes me want to travel and learn about the world! Luckily I've been able to travel in my life -- to the Philippines (where my mother emigrated from), South Korea, UK, France, Italy, Ireland, and Spain. In the States, I've visited Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii and New York.

My most memorable experiences have been in the Philippines, Korea, and the UK. Cities like Seoul and London have felt like home even though they're new to me. And I definitely would go back to Hawaii!

  • Living abroad for one year

For a year, I'd love to live in Spain. I've never taken Spanish classes but I'd love to explore Spain! I'm interested in the abstract architecture there and would love to visit cathedrals like La Sagrada! I've visited Barcelona before but didn't feel like I got to know any part of the city. It was bright and sunny and lively though

  • As a child, I wish...

I would definitely encourage younger Malaya to keep dancing, to make more friends, and invest even more time into the things I enjoyed like drawing and singing. Now that I'm twenty, I can see that working on new skills would not have made me seem like a late starter. That was something I worried about since I was a little kid! And I still have so much time!

  • I'm an expert at...

Nothing yet! Lol. I'm a fine art major about to begin my senior year! I hope to go into anything involved in the production of films, movies, or animations. Though I have a lot of work to do!

  • A personal challenge

Listening to the joke that my name is like the Himalayas (my name is Malaya)⛰️ I hear it so much even though I'm 20 years old💀
