• It was better before

  Freedom to play before computers took over the children.
  Personal communication. The downside of mobile devices and instant communication with many people is that people don’t talk personally so much, and I think it can spoil relationships instead of enriching them.

• My interests in other cultures

  I’m learning about the German, and particularly Bavarian culture here. It’s very interesting, although the dialect is difficult for an English speaker. I haven’t met any other English people here. It’s a very quiet, traditional and religious area, with few outsiders. They work hard, keep mostly to themselves, but have a good sense of humour, despite what English speakers assume.
