• Cities and countries I have visited

  I had lived in England for 53 years have now moved to Brittany where myself and my partner have lived now for 2 years, I have been on holiday to Crete which is a wonderful country and holidays here were always fun with lovely people, and good food and weather, myself and my partner had lots of holidays in Lanzarote where the weather was usually dependable to be warm and sunny.

• My proudest accomplishments

  I managed to complete an access to nursing course in the UK which enabled me to obtain O and A levels at the ripe old age of 48, this to me was a great achievements as I did not complete my schooling in my early years, this enabled me to be accepted at University to do a course in Adult nursing.

• My interests in other cultures

  Lots of things interest me in other cultures particularly the french culture and way of life which is why myself and my partner have moved here, there is a lot of respect for other people here and reminds me of England twenty years ago. They have a lot of history and respect of how things are done.

• I'm an expert at...

  Making cakes and any food that is really fattening, I love to cook and have been accused of being a feeder.

• A personal challenge

  To learn how to understand and speak french is my biggest challenge at the moment, when I get to understand more I may feel more comfortable in speaking the language, then it will be onto learning the guitar

• Favourite books/authors/films

  Favourite books are modern romance or a really gripping horror, favourite authors are danielle steel, maeve binchy, shaun hutson, james herbert, favourite movies is such a vast field, from pretty woman to Jurassic park, and I love a really good christmas movie or musical such as the greatest showman.

• Living abroad for one year

  Already here I dont need to go anywhere else. Temperature could do with warming up a little.

• I always enjoy talking about...

  With my partner it is usually what we have done during the day if we are not together, otherwise it is usually the weather, or rugby, or what we are going to be doing next with regards to maintenance on the house.

• Making the world a better place

  Peace and harmony, less worrying about what others think of you just be proud of your own achievements.

• Personal skills

  Annoying my partner, but seriously I will put up with most things and try to keep a calm head on my shoulders when others are going mad.

• Childhood pleasures

  Riding bicycles up and down the alleyway with my friends, and going in and out of each others houses until it started to get dark then go home for tea.

• I recently learnt...

  I am currently learning the french language and there is so much to take in that I cant put my finger on the last thing that I learnt.

• 10 years from now

  If my partner has his way probably in the ground, but seriously I would love to be working with elderly people either in a care home or in their own homes, although in 10 years time I may need looking after myself.

• I'm excited about...

  Having my partners brother, wife and their two girls visiting us this year, and hopefully getting to see my parents if the restrictions are not too severe

• Something uncommon about me

  I am easy to get on with but I dont think that makes me unique, I believe I am just normal and as far as I can tell I am not unique in any way

• It was better before

  My parents grew up in the 60s where the music was better and life was a lot simpler, there were no gadgets such as mobile phones, computers or televisions with so many stations on, there highlight was listening to vinyl records on the record player at the weekend and their generation were not so money orientated

• It is better now

  I believe since my parents generation things have gone downhill, and lots of the younger generation always want more stuff, a better way of life for not doing anything.

• I wish people knew more about...

  We are all the same, skin, race, religion or whether we are wealthy or poor, we all bleed the same colour blood if we get a cut.

• As a child, I wish...

  Looking back on my childhood, although at the time it didnt feel like a great time, I now realise my parents enabled me to have freedom and although money was never readily available and pretty scarce myself and my three brothers never went without anything that was needed.

• A career without obstacles

  If I could choose any career I would have liked to have done it would probably have been a mechanic, as I love messing around and trying to fix my car now, if it had been on an older car and not too much reliant on a computer for diagnostics it would have been fun.

• My parents and me

  Not a lot of difference in mentality between us as they have instilled all the good parts in me that they have.

• My feeling about the future

  Yes I am very optomistic about the future, and hope that as the years go on things will only get better

• My opinion on human nature

  I think on the whole mankind is naturally good, I believe it is others that instill bad in people and keep on at them until they believe something is bad or makes them selfish

• I feel concerned about...

  Peoples stupidity when it comes to taking care of themselves and others who are vulnerable with regards to the covid virus.

• A trick or piece of advice

  Enjoy life as you only get one go at it, we are all a long time dead, do unto others as you would have done unto you, each day we are alive is another day to be grateful

• Life regrets

  There is a lot of things I regret but as I cannot reverse time there is no point dwelling on the regrets I have, just try not to do anything now that I may come to regret later

• Improving the school system

  Bring back the old school, teach children values, and how to cope on their own, how to cook and clean and enjoy doing it.

• Over or underrated

  Live television programmes such as big brother, I'm a celebrity etc... Do people not have lives of their own, I have heard that people were staying up all night to watch people sleeping, honestly get a life!!! I believe that people are underestimating the current situation with Covid and not taking seriously enough.

• Something to tell the world!

  I am a fun loving person who does not tolerate fools gladly, I will often tell people the truth as friends prefer honest people than fake friends, I love my life and my current situation living in Brittany with my partner, meeting new friends whilst learing the french language and intergrating with the community, it is amazing how moving to another country can change ones perspective on life in general and every day is a good day.
