Instead of increasing infrastructure costs, conversations will now be deleted after a period of inactivity. The expiration delay will start at 3 years (or 10 years for everyone who made a one time donation to support the community).
With that in mind, we want you to have full control over your data and be able to easily access old conversations that are important to you. So we took the time to add an export feature, which will allow you to download your conversations to your computer. You will find a new option "Download conversation" in your conversation menu.
The purge of old conversations will take effect starting June 15th, so you have until then to make sure you save what you need.

Ok, so is this for all conversations when an account is inactive? Or is it when the conversation between you and another user is inactive for 3 years?
Hello, Etienne. There are some bugs about downloading conversations.
Let me tell you the details.
When we download a conversation, we will get a .zip, and the HTMLs are in the export.zip.
However, the HTMLs have some problems.
Non-English speaking areas will see a garbled code when we open the HTMLs with browsers.

Hello Snoomy, thanks for your message, great catch! This feature was only tested with Latin languages so we didn't have a chance to catch this bug. The fix will be pushed live in the next couple of days 🙂
Hello,Etienne. Thank you for this update! but It seems that my messages from the members who deactivated their account for a long time have lost.....I can't find their dialogue box.So how can I recover them?There are a lot of memories of last year🙂
Hello, feel free to PM me to let me know who this person is. If they deleted their account, the conversation was permanently deleted as well.
