Notifications ? Comments and suggestions

Hey I am looking for a way to get notified when someone has messaged me on the website as the app doesn't work for me .
I don't want to have to stop everything I am doing to see if I have a massage or make it seem I am ignoring someone because I forgot to check . I think there used to be a banner to get notifications but I can't see it now .

The app won't open it shows red for a second then it closes I can't open the link. It's fine I just want to get notifications on the website

Hmm odd I've never heard of this problem. Just so I get it right: you clicked the "install" link, the icon was added to your phone, and when you click that icon it shows the red splash screen and instantly crashes?
