Do you use Google/Chrome and has your browser decided there's a problem, so they don't let you access penpal gate? Try an other browser such as startpage.com that one will let you get access to this platform.
Yes the server had a misconfiguration issue, it happened twice in the last week or so and it affected the service for approximately 20min each time. It shouldn't happen again
