👰🤵 Married at First Sight 💍❤️

Hellooo everybody!! 🙋‍♀️ I really wanted to make this forum for some days now so i am really curious what others think about this. So my mom and i REALLY like to watch Married at First Sight which everybody just calls MAFS. 😊😇😇 And it is a tv show and experts make matches and they marry them WITHOUT knowing each other and they see each other for the FIRST TIME at the wedding ceremony. And after that they go on honeymoon and live together some time. But it is also a bit different because we watch the Dutch MAFS and also from Australia but there are also ones in Belgium, UK and USA and i think also other countries. 🙄🙄

I really like it a LOTTT but mostly because my mom makes super funny comments and if we watch also with my aunt they talk about EVERYTHING and it is super funny what they say and it is just fun show to watch!! 😛 BUTTT in England in the show last week it was on the news that in TWO weddings the brides said that they were raped and threatened by the husbands. And they continued the show on TV!!!!! 😬😬😵‍💫😵‍💫😧😡😠🤦‍♀️🙅‍♀️🙅‍♀️ I think that is REALLY TERRIBLE! and WRONG!! And i think it is only because they wanted the views. ❌❌🆘⛔ But now i think it is cancelled finally. 🙄🙄 In all the other MAFS it was not like that at all and it is more just funny or just nice in some cases where it worked but in most cases it did NOT work and they divorced at the end.

Can i ask these questions:

1️⃣ Do you think it is wrong and u should feel guilty if you still like for examle MAFS in Netherlands and Australia if it is nothing like the English MAFS where that happened?

2️⃣ Did you ever watch MAFS and if yes what do you think of it and did u like to watch it?

3️⃣ Do you think experts can make good matches even if the couple never saw or know each other yet?

4️⃣ Would you ever participate in MAFS or a show like that ORRRR any other dating show like Temptation Island or First Dates or other dating shows? And do you know anybody from your family or friends who would do that?

5️⃣ Do you think that MAFS should ever be on English tv again after that what happened??

Personally, I think Reality TV is trash. It's as formulaic as a school play of Hamlet in which the actors play out the scenes at gunpoint.

That said .. if you like it.. and you enjoy watching it. F*ck what I or others think. Do what makes you happy.

Lol. No...sounds like something I would eventually start making fun of.. like when my daughter watches 90 Day Fiancee...

No. They're going to find the worst matches. The people least capable of making any relationship work.

Would you watch the show if all the couples were perfect for each other? I suspect no. Because where is the entertainment value in that? I'm not making fun of you for watching btw.

Tina, who is currently in prison, once tried to get me and her on "Love During Lockup" or 'Love After Lockup," when she was doing three months in Durham County jail. I would have been game if there was $$$$ involved, but in the end, I decided against it. We had to make up outrageous things and I felt like I couldn't convincingly lie.

Didn't see it, so I can't comment. Honestly, if this kind of voyeurism is acceptable then I want a show that televises executions.

But do u also think that about MAFS in England after what happened what i wrote above from the news? I think that AT LEAST that season must be stopped and they did that now but super late. And im not sure if it should come again in that country after those things.

In my country it is not so much about super sensation and i think matches are good and we hope that it works. But often it does not work but only after some time but yesterday we watched back the FIRST time of MAFS in the netherlands that a person said NO at the wedding when she met him. That was super big shock. It was from this season but we are watching back the episodes because we were still busy with MAFS Australia!! 😛 😛

You have already answered your question with this part here. Reality tv is very often complete rubbish nad unrealistic, they don't care about people, they only care about money. I'm sure they didn't cancel the show because of rape, they cancelled the show out of fear of being sued or to lose audience. I hope rapists, tv producers and tv owners will get maximum jail sentence and that they will realize what they are doing. At least.

My answers to your questions:

1️⃣ They are still part of the same franchize. These shows can only teach you which plastic surgeon is the best, how to become goldigger (I am talking about both sexes), how to use people for personal gain - my opinion is that they get married to elevate their social status (unmarried people are still looked like aliens, even in the West) or because it's their 'last chance'. With this post I have also learnt they indirectly encourage rape.

If you eat junk food and drink coca-cola, you will ger sick. If you don't excercise you will be sick. If you are exposed to violence you will be traumatised. If you watch rubbish on tv you will....--insert your answer here--.

2️⃣ I have seen commercials for that show and for similar ones such as Big Brother, Farm, Kardashians, Love Island, Survivor, etc. If I was blind and deaf, maybe I would watch it (the accent is on maybe).

3️⃣ As far as I know, marriage always means at least love and living together (children and no divorce as well in some religions). Do you really think that people can know are they for each other after 10 minutes? Do you really think people can fall in love after 10 minutes?

Who are those 'experts'?

Psychologists - real psychologist will never claim to understand a person after only reading his CV, looking at his photo and without ever talking to the person. They are all frauds or diploma prostitutes.

Thanks @Korisnik for answering. I think what happened in England is really terrible. And that they continued it first with the show is really bad and i think they maybe did not care about the victims enough!!

A lot of people complain that the Dutch MAFS is too boring but they people who are in it are more normal and they are not on tv for sensation. I always hope that it works but mostly it does not work. But it is still nice to watch even if i feel big guilty now to watch it. What was also really nice even if others maybe think it is boring was Say Yes to the Dress. And they look for the perfect dress but i liked the Dutch version more than the America because in the Dutch show it was not so much drama or that they react super exaggerating sometimes. But maybe they are also wrong as shows but i think they are ok and not like for example Temptation Island which i really dont like.

No I don't think you should, and I personally don't feel guilty for it. It's not something that has anything to do with the version of the show that you like.

I have watched the danish version a few times, and I personally find it fun and interesting to see how the couples work through hard things and differences.

I think it can be hard cause chemistry can be hard to predict, but at the same time they somehow still make some good matches and some even last.
