Let's discuss!!
Since Dante Alighieri invented Italian language and it’s his most great masterpiece, in Italy we study it last two years of middle school and in the high school in literature subject… I find it amazing
he didn’t invent italian language but indeed he demonstrated that the vulgar latin of his region could be used for poems, hence for high-level documents and literature (something that was reserved to the latin language only since it was it official language of the papal state).
he also wrote a sort of essay where he explains why vulgar language is at the same level of beauty as latin’s, it’s called “de vulgari eloquentia” (written in latin to reach the scholars in defense of the latin language)
next poets and academics applauded his works and ideas; as a matter of fact the florentine vulgar became the basis of the future italian language
