Helllooo!!! 🙋‍♀️💌 Yesterday was World Goth Day and i wanted to make a forum about it for @Chantal- but i forgot it!!! 😬😬 By the way: i am NOTTTTTTT a goth even when Chantal wants to make me goth for fun but is ONLY allowed if i can choose HER outfit and hairstyle!!!! 😃

Dark outfits and really pretty eye makeup!

I'm not, but I love the style.

I would allow everything except if the outfit is too revealing or dyeing my hair black. So I would allow makeup, clothes and accessories.

4️⃣ Do you have friends who are goth?

No, not that I know of.

5️⃣ What do u think are things that people often misunderstand about being goth?

That they never smile and are mean or antisocial! That's not true for all gothic people.

No, it's just that some people don't consider a person as goth if you aren't connected to those things, so the 'typical' goth is associated with these even if it's not true for all people with that aesthetic.

I don't know any... I don't shop with brands, I just go like "Hey, that thing looks nice, I'll buy it then."

1) Dark academia outfits and makeup.

2) I'm not "goth" but I think I give a mix of downtown and grunge vibe and I looooove the goth style. In my opinion, it's gorgeous.

3) I would absolutely dress goth. Like yes I would put on a tank top with a long skirt and a corset and a docs (there are many outfits possible obviously but I would wear this one). I just wouldn't dye my hair because I'm scared it would never get to its natural color (I'm blonde) and I wouldn't wear jewelry with a cross either.

4) No.

5) I think most people think that goths are depressed and dark and sad and they sh but no like you can be a happy, lively goth.

6) No. Goths aren't always depressed.

7) I have no idea I'm sorry.

1️⃣ What do u think is typical for looking goth?

Honestly, I really dont recall the whole "Goth" as a descriptive until the Columbine School Shootings, but I didn't hang out in that scene so that's possibly why. The people who dressed in that fashion back in the day were just punks like us.

That said... all black and brocade? The look when i was young was black or grey.. leather jackets and berets. The girls wore sateen or crushed velvet skirts with fishnets. I also recall short skirts worn over leggjngs with black chucks or Vans and love & rockets t-shirts. The whole loon pants with mesh shirts wasn't a thing yet.. thank God.

2️⃣ If u are goth what else do u think is from that lifestyle?

I'm not and never was, I into the whole hardcore, street punk, skinhead thing. But DC's scene was small enough where everyone mixed. I went a lot of Madhouse and 9353 shows. I guess you could say they were our local "Goth" bands.

Oh lord. Do my hair up like Robert Smith. Get me a black beret and paint my face white so I scare the sh*t outta my neighbors.

Hahah. Yaaa.. there's a girl I chat with in India who is into that stuff... bandmate is into that kind Death Punk stuff too.

5️⃣ What do u think are things that people often misunderstand about being goth?

All the "goths" i have known were awesome people to hang with. I did recall one girl who was really morose and did a lot self harm... but she was tye exception to the rule.

Drac and I are close in age. Back in the day, the vampire thing was part of the look...it's been overplayed now. See my above comments about the so called depression. We were angsty, not depressed.

The Cure in their A Forest and Killing an Arab period. Christian Death, 45 Grave, Madhouse, 9353, Death in June. B-Movie, Rubella Ballet (back in their prime, absolute joke now)... Skinny Puppy..and, course, Bauhaus.
