Trivia too focused on pop cult

I like the trivias, but sometimes find it to be too focused on pop cult.
Not everyone has a chance of knowing who won the best supporting actress in 2006.
Some of us just don't care about popular culture at all.
Anyone else feel the same way?

In trivia i think some older questions are super difficult like things about super old bands or movies or series. And some questions are really easy like the capital of a country or other easy topics but there is also a lot abt everything. But still i think the questions like pop or movie questions from long ago are the most difficult. I still try to guess them but normally i guess them wrong. 🙁

Questions about what countries have this and that capital is too easy anyway. We all know those answers.

Hahahaha, I also feel ashamed that I know one of the answers today, the Justin Bieber song? lmao, I feel old and dumb at the same time.

Oh, I think I know the question you mentioned! Jennifer Hudson from Dream Girls? I watched this movie because I like Beyoncé haha so I know!

I think today it happened to generated too many all at once. If it could be set in one question for one category would be fair.

But hey, pop culture is fun sometimes. I went to trivias in pubs that the final round is always for pop culture, and once they played korean pop music to let people guess which boyband it is 😂 It baffled every guy there.

Édité par Mindy1213 .

You have pub quiz in China?
The more I learn!

I don't really know, but I stopped playing when I got me Trivia badge, and I was quite pissed off by that robot anyway.

Haha! I just like the trivias. It gives me 2 minutes of peace.

Also a reason I don't like Trivia is because it asks a whole lot I just don't have the answer on.

That's why it's a trivia

Yes, especially in Shanghai, in different pubs or restaurants, and in English.

China just didn't strike me as a country with pub culture.
Then again... I've never been there.
The country's been around for thousands of years so I'm pretty sure there's culture there.

Wasn't Shanghai British until 1997? That sure would explain it.

Hahaha, no. That's Hong Kong you are talking about.

There had been a French consession in Shanghai since before WWI, and that part of Shanghai has many sycamore trees and western styles of architectures.

Yeah! Hong Kong! My bad!
I can't keep track of everything.
I'm watching all sorts of places. I can't help it.
If I hear about a place I have to look it up. I have to see the streets, how many people live there, what i architecture they have there.
No wonder I get confused

Ever heard the concept of being "Shanghaied"?
Meaning that you get fooled into a deal?
That was common in medieval Europe as well.

Kid at 14 went down the street.
"Hey! How are you doing? Want a beer?"
* 12 beers later and waking up at sea* YOU'RE A PIRATE NOW! YOU'LL BE BACK HOME IN 20 YEARS!!

Oh I know, I've seen they use this word in TV shows haha. Do you know "Cin cin" also comes from the Cantonese sailors? There's Wikipedia page for it. Cin cin means please please in Chinese, they said this to encourage the other party to drink.

Yeah when I lived in Southern Norway. Back in those days. We said Cin Cin.
But we also said "Salute", "Prost" and ofc "Skål"
I always wondered where Cin Cin came from.
Now that is clarified

There is actually a LOTTT of pop in Chinese and my mom likes to listen to older pop and thinks that if she sings super loud with it than it gets better!!! 😵😵‍💫😵‍💫 For @Mindy1213: she listens a lot to Na Ying.

And @Qleqk there is also HK pop scene and also for example J-pop and Kpop 🙂 SOOOO if you ever go to Asia i think you should try Karaoke and then sing at least 3 popular songs or maybe have karaoke battle with @Mindy1213!!!!!!!!!!! 😛 😛

I've lived in Asia. And I also have an ex from South-Korea. I know very well of their pop songs.
