Interview with @TomiL 02.06.2025

Thank you very much @TomiL that i can interview you!!! That is really kind!! 🙂 I hope that you like the questions. So i made 20 questions and this is the first part of 5 questions. And of course only answer the questions that you want!! 😊😊 Thank you very much! 🙏

⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ PART I

1: How long have you been a member of PPG? What do you like the most of the site? And do you maybe have suggestions for @Etienne to make it nicer perhaps?

I have been a member for over 2 years. I am quite shy and have a lot of anxiety issues so getting to know people irl is really hard for me. A platform like PPG feels a lot safer. I do like to get to know a lot of people and I do love chatting. I also love to see all kinds of different cultures, personalities...

2: It says on your profile that you are from Aalter in Belgium. What is your city like and do you think that you will always live there? And if people visit your city what do you think is the nicest to see and do?

I used to like to live here, because it is a very small town and it’s very calm. Everybody knows everybody and I like that. A side effect of that is that there’s a lot of gossip, because that’s how info spreads over here. There are a lot of old people here, young people seem to move away, because there are not a lot of possibilities to grow over here. The town is doing his best now to renovate, modernize and grow and I can’t recognize it anymore. There is not much to see over here, though we do have the biggest forest in the region which I used to go to a lot when I was younger.

3: You told me that you work in the library often. What do you like the most of it? And do you also read a lot? What kind of books do you like the most?

I work at the archive of the library. People come to us to make a family tree. I get overstimulated quite quickly so I like that it’s nice and quiet. We don’t see a lot of people 😛 besides I love to look things up and search things. I love when everything connects real nicely and all of a sudden you have found relatives in the 1800’s. I actually started reading more since I worked there. I love something with a bit of thrill to it, also horror.

4: What kind of food and drinks do you like the most? And can you cook very well too? If people would visit you and you have to cook: what would you make?

I love Italian food, though I can’t cook AT ALL. If people would visit me, we’d probably have take away and if they don’t like that, they can just leave 😛

5: What is the biggest challenge that you ever did? And do you have tips if other people have that challenge too?

The biggest challenge for me probably has to be my health. When I was 8 years old they found out I have a brain condition and I had to have surgery. They didn’t know if I was going to make it. I am 23 now and I still suffer from some consequences. It has also left me with anxiety and depression that are pretty treatment resistant. If I had to give some advice to people it would be that when you feel something is off, to keep looking for a cause. The doctors couldn’t find anything on me at first, my parents were told off a lot of times.

Thank you very much @TomiL and also that you talk super honest about health problems bc that is really difficult i think!!! Or you taught me Belgian: massas difficult. But that is also super strong i think!!!!! 💪💪 Bc i think other people sometimes think it is difficult to talk about it so with that i think you give maybe people the way they also can talk about it now. 🏆🥇🙏🙏

Oww and before i forget it: there are two other super big horror fans on PPG: @Simone724 and @Fleurke but movies and maybe also books!!!!

Thank you for the interview. You’re the nicest person I have ever met and I loved the interview

⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ PART II

6: What kind of music do you like? Do you also play a music instrument or did you do that in the past? And did you ever go to a concert that you really liked?

My music taste comes and goes in waves. Currently I love rap music. I also started to re-listen to some of the music I listened to growing up because I love the nostalgic feeling and the memories that come with it. I am not really one for going to concerts because I hate crowded and loud places. I don’t play any instrument, but sometimes I make an attempt at rapping 🫣

7: Which country in the world would you like to visit the MOSTTT if everything is paid for two weeks and you can choose anything (also space if you prefer that more than a country)?

I haven’t travelled that much because my parents don’t really like it. I am interested in visiting some places around the world. I would love to see different people and cultures. I would like to visit some native English-speaking countries, because I just like the language and I want to see if I can manage. I want to experience some Asian culture as well, because I find it very interesting. I would also like to see some beautiful nature. Space sounds cool at first, but I think it would get rather lonely, boring and quiet and which way is up?!?

8: If people visit Belgium: which 5 Belgian words are funny to learn so everybody you speak will be SUPER impressed with it? And what is the meaning of the words you teach us?

This question @TomiL will think about ANDDDD maybe @Fleurke can help too!! 😛 I know: amai and massas!!! 😛

9: Dutch and Belgian people sometimes make jokes about each other. What kind of jokes do you think Dutch people make about Belgium and what kind of jokes do Belgian people make about The Netherlands? And did you ever visit The Netherlands and if yes did you like it?

The Netherlands are the lands of wide open fields with old windmills, cheese, tall people😃 You can tell me what they say about Belgians😉 Don’t take it too hard though, Belgians like joking around, different regions in Belgium even make jokes about each other’s dialect/ accent/… which is even crazier. I think Dutch people are super friendly and easy-going (Yue_ is paying me to say this JK)

10: If you can speak with yourself when you were 5 years and also with yourself when you are 50 years. What would you ask or say to yourself? Are you a lot the same as when you were small or did you change a lot? And did you ever try an app to see how you look when you are old? 😛

5 years: I would tell myself to worry less, which is something I still do a lot. Also over-thinking. My physician used to call me “the professor” because you could see me procrastinating all the time. I am still a lot like I was when I was 5, though I have grown a bit I think. I am still shy and quiet, but not nearly as much as I was back then. I am still anxious and a perfectionist, but those have dimmed down a bit.

50 years: I would ask for advice, because I don’t have a clue what I’m doing atm. I would ask what my biggest mistakes in life would be, so I can avoid those😛 Also I would like to ask what my strengths are in life, so I can focus on those.

Thank you very much @TomiL for this next part!!! I will later ask something i am curious about your answers but if anybody wants to say or ask something first you can of course do that below!! Thank you!! 🙏🙏😊😊 And i paid Tomi 20 Euros to say nice stuff about Dutch people!!! 😛
