Me and my mother received a message that was IDENTICAL. The message was obviously in swedish from a swedish number and said “yes, merry Christmas. And maybe now a little more peaceful…🎄☃️🎅❄️”.

We called the number and there was the answer machine the voice was of a real person,an adult male. I searched the number of google and it belongs to a man named kent that lives near to us but we had no idea who he is:

1) we are sure that we don’t know any kent. My mom basically doesn’t have a social life outside the family. She doesn’t go anywhere

2) why would he have my number and my mom’s number? We didn’t give our number to anybody recently also

3) the message is super weird tbh. And the one that my mom received is THE SAME with the same emojis in the same order and everything

4) it can’t be a coincidence. Both our numbers are italian he cannot have put a wrong number

⚠️⚠️⚠️i found his adress on google putting his number which is why i know that he lives near us. And its not a scam it is a real person as i said. The answer machine when you try to call is clearly registered by a real person.

ALSO THERE IS ALWAYS THE ANSWER MACHINE HE NEVER ANSWERS. We called him many times.

We are sure we don’t know any kent I should repeat. We thought about it the whole day and asked around.

something that makes making a theory impossible: he has my number and my mom’s. Its not a coincidence. It can’t be a hacker

Wow… That’s so odd…

But honestly it happens to everyone to get weird messages sometimes. One day I also received some weird message but a bit funnier. I once received a contextless photo of two adult men happily sitting in a little house for children as if it was the best moment of their lives 😅 When I asked who it was, they never answered back.

Maybe "Kent" had a distribution list… A distribution list is an option in some phones that allows certain users to send the same message to multiple or all phone numbers in your phone at once. But what's strange to me is how he got both of your numbers.

Or, it might be spam or random messages that are sent like that, just as what happened to me. However you said the person lived near you. So I don’t know if it was done on purpose or just randomly.

A third possibility maybe ? Do you know if he tried other Italian phone numbers around you ? Sometimes spammers tend to target a specific country and specific phone numbers from that country, when they just call or send a message, and never come again.

The message doesn’t seem threatening to me. Maybe he simply wanted to wish a merry Christmas. But if you really don’t feel safe, you and your mother still can report it to the police if you wish. Maybe they can find a solution to your problem.

Stay safe Rose ! 🙂

I agree that the message dosen’t seem too creepy but it’s still weird. The first thing I thought was a spammer as well but then i saw it’s a real person. I didn’t know about what you said about the distribution list and it seems like a good theory but I agree, weird that he got both of our numbers

@Parsaa i can’t and don’t want to tell the police because right now there is nothing dangerous that can be shown to the police, they’d laugh. And when i say he lives near me i mean 30 minutes of car so he is not a neighbor

My mom said that if you go to the police they say that it is just a Christmas message even if it is weird or you dont know the person. So they will not do anything. BUTTT maybe if you walk alone that you have your phone with you with enough battery so if something is wrong you can call. Or be with somebody if it is super late and if you walk home. So just be more careful than normal.

You can mayb note it somewhere,so if it happens again and you eventually decide to go to the police then you have prove, but maybe its also indeed spam or someone lonely, but maybe writing down if something like this happens helps? Just in case ????
