They say Japan has four distinct seasons, but for the past few years, spring and autumn seem to pass by in a flash, and summer feels incredibly long. I've never once thought, "I miss the sun." In spring, flowers are in full bloom, we go cherry blossom viewing, and we can forage for wild mountain vegetables like bamboo shoots and field horsetails. However, it's a tough season for people with hay fever. Summer brings firefly watching, fireworks festivals, and shaved ice. But the sun is just too intense, and it's so humid that it would be unbearable without air conditioning. 🙁
Autumn is my absolute favorite season. The weather is mild and cool, and it's the season of harvest. The leaves turn beautiful shades of red, yellow, and orange, making the autumn foliage absolutely stunning. And at night, I love to spend my time gazing at the moon. 😃
I don't really like winter. The only fruits around seem to be mandarin oranges and apples, and the only things that come to mind about winter are New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. People who like snow might enjoy winter, but in the area where I live, it rarely snows, and it never really accumulates.
