Interview with @Sarahsalah27 9.12.2024

Hi @Sarahsalah27!! 🥰🌞 Thank you that I can interview you for the forum!! 🙏🙏 That is very nice!! I made 20 questions and this is the first part of 5 questions. You only have to answer the questions that you like of course!! 🤗🤗❤️

⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ PART I

1: How long have you been a member of PPG and is the website what you expected? What are the things that you like the most of PPG?

Hello! I became a PPG member about a month or so ago.

Actually, I had been searching for an app for a while to help me make international friends and improve my languages, and learn about new cultures, and I tried several other apps before I found PPG.

But I wasn't satisfied with it because it lacked good suggestions and activity, in addition to the lack of live chat, which made the experience a bit boring.

I searched the Internet for a long time until I found the PPG website, and from the first moment I felt that it was different.

What I liked most are the quick friend suggestions that make it easy to meet new people, and the live chat that livens up the experience.

The forums were also great because they provided a space to share opinions and cultures with others.

As for the profile, it is very innovative; It is based on questions instead of the traditional format, which helps others understand your personality better.

All of these elements made me feel that PPG was exactly what I was looking for!

2: Do you live with your family in Cairo? What does your family look like (for example do you have brothers and sisters)? And are you close with your brothers and sisters if you have any?

Yes, I live with my family in Cairo. We are a small family of 4: my dad, mom, me, and my younger sister (Somaya), she is four years younger than me.

Actually, the relationship between Somaya and I is very special.

We have a strong bond.

Although there are differences between us, and the difference in age is not large, but I was an essential part of Somaya’s upbringing.

She was always close to me.

She spent most of her time with me, and playing with me, and we shared a lot.

We even shared the same room. And the same bed in our childhood.

I was the one who taught her to read and write, and I made sure to share anything I learned with her. When she was sad, she came to me to tell me everything, and even now I explain her lessons and help her organize her things, and we share almost all the details of her life together.

I don’t know why .The truth is that she does not relate to my mom in the same way, maybe because my mom is always busy and does not have enough time.

But what increased our closeness is a difficult period that Somaya went through when she was young, as she suffered from stuttering.

That period was painful. Very bad for me because she was bullied because of that, and I used to feel so bad and sometimes I would cry for her without being able to hide my tears from her, and that was really bothering me.

It was even more painful when I felt like I was the reason behind it. My parents told me that I was the reason she stuttered because I did not take good care of her and I was responsible.

I felt deep remorse, but I decided to do everything I could to help her.

I started reading stories to her, and talking to her a lot, and trying to encourage her to to improve the way she speaks.

Thanks God, that period not only made her overcome her stutter, but also brought us closer than ever before.

Today, our relationship is stronger than can be described, and I am proud of everything we have achieved together.

3: What kind of house do you live in? And what kind of neighbourhood? Is it very busy or a more quiet place? And is it close to famous parts of Cairo like for example the pyramids?

Well, I live in a simple house in a five-story building, and each floor has one apartment.

Our apartment is located on the 5th floor, the only problem is that the building does not have an elevator, however, that's okay, I'm used to it.

As for the neighborhood in which I live, it is the Old Marj neighborhood, a very traditional popular place, simple and full of life.

The neighborhood is very crowded, like most neighborhoods in Egypt except for the new neighborhoods.

Here you find a lot of shops and markets that add a lively atmosphere to the area.

As for our location among the famous places, I am very far from the pyramids, but I live near the Ring Bridge, which is one of the most famous bridges in Egypt and is considered an important transportation hub.

4: What is your favourite place in Cairo to visit if you have guests from other countries? And where do you like to go to in Cairo if you are with friends (for example from school)?

If I have guests from other countries or even if I'm walking alone, I love visiting downtown Cairo.

The places there carry a special charm, such as (Ataba, Al-Musky, Khan Al-Khalili, Al-Muizz Street, and Al-Hussein).

They are wonderful historical places full of tourists, vibrant with life and joy, and reflect the beauty of Egyptian culture and its authentic spirit. Walking around these areas always gives me a special feeling of connection to our roots and ancient history. When I go out with my friends, we usually prefer quiet and comfortable places.

We often go to restaurants or cafes where we enjoy food and conversation, or we visit public parks such as Badr Park.

These places give us a space to enjoy our time together and relax away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

5: Is life in Egypt changing a lot or is it the same like for example 10 years ago? Do you think Egypt will change a lot in the future?

Life in Egypt has certainly changed from what it was ten years ago, but the change has not always been positive or comprehensive.

For example, there are notable developments in infrastructure, such as new roads, bridges and large national projects, and this is a positive thing.

But at the same time, basic challenges such as the quality of education, health care, unemployment, and high costs of living still exist and sometimes even become more complex.

As for the future, I believe that major change requires time and a real will to deal with the roots of the problems and not just their symptoms.

Sometimes I feel that there are many promises for reform, but implementation requires thoughtful plans and cooperation between the state and society.

If investments are made in education, youth, and social justice, I believe Egypt could see major changes for the better.

In the end, I have hope that things can improve, but this depends on the decisions that are made now and how committed we all are to striving for a better future.

Thank you very much for the interview @Sarahsalah27!! 🙏🙏 I like your answers A LOTTTT and i hope others enjoy the interview too!! It is a very special relationship that you have with your sister and I think that you should be SUPERRR proud of what you did to help your sister because that is not easy!!! You should be very proud of that and i think you deserve a PPG HERO CUP!!! 🏆🥇 It is for you now!! 😊

And I have a question about answer 5️⃣ : do you think that girls in Egypt are now more equal because how the developments are? Or do you think not enough or maybe very good? 🙂

It must be super special to live in such a nice country with a lot of beautiful things to see everywhere from pyramids and pharaos and other places!! 🇪🇬 🇪🇬

Thank you, @Yue_ that is very kind of you 💕🥰

and I hope you come to Egypt one day and I am sure you will love it.

for the question, I believe that there is a noticeable development regarding the status of girls in Egypt compared to the past, whether in terms of rights or educational and work opportunities.

However, significant challenges remain to achieving full equality, such as harassment, unequal pay, and societal pressures on girls' choices.

So, despite the marked improvement, I believe that efforts to achieve true equality still need more work and development.

Thank you very much @Sarahsalah27!! Sukran!!! 🙂

These are really wonderful places and are considered one of the most famous archaeological sites in Cairo.

I think that you maybe live in one of the most beautiful cities and countries in the world because of so many super nice buildings and i would love to see the sphinx and the pyramids and super large tempels from old Egypt!!! That is very magical i think!! 🙂

You are right, Yue
When I look at those pictures I feel like it`s magic.
I guess a part of me already walks in those streets
and got neglected for so many years.
My world got a lot more colourful by the
experiences with some members here.

Thank you
Christine

“Thank you! @Yue_ @H_E_A_R_T Egypt is really full of wonderful places and amazing history.

The pyramids and the Sphinx are some of the most beautiful sights to see, and the ancient temples tell fascinating stories about our civilization.

I hope you can visit them one day, it will be an unforgettable experience!

⠀ PART II

6: Do you play sports and if not what kind of sports would you like to do? Is that the same when you did your first sports?

Yes, I exercise now, but mostly simple home exercises, like running and walking. When I was young, I used to swim, and it was one of my favorite sports. I really hope to go back to swimming again one day, because it holds a special place in my heart and gives me a feeling of freedom and freshness.

7: If you can live in another country in the world for free for one year. In which country would you like to live? And what would you do for school or work?

If I could live in another country in the world for free for a year, of course I would choose England. I want to live there to gain a great experience of English life and culture, and use this year to improve my English and explore its rich history, which I love. I will also be keen to learn about the education system there, and work on developing myself academically and personally. After the year is over, I will return again with the goal of achieving my biggest dream: entering Oxford University. This for me will be the beginning of realizing my great ambitions.

8: What are the three best dishes in Egypt that you like the most that everybody should try and eat? And can you cook yourself and do you help your mom with it? What kind of food do you eat at home?

The three best Egyptian foods that I like so much and that I think everyone should try are: koshari, fattah, and molokhiya. Actually, I know how to cook them, but when I cook them myself, the result is very bad, because I am not good at cooking. So, I help my mother more than I cook myself. But every day I prepare breakfast because it is very easy and usually consists of simple foods such as beans, French fries, falafel, or eggs. However, even these foods are not as delicious as what my mother cooks. As for the type of food we eat at home, we eat three meals a day: Breakfast: It is often traditional Egyptian food such as fava beans, falafel, eggs, moussaka, French fries, and cheese. Lunch: includes basic dishes such as fish with rice, pasta, chicken, and vegetables cooked with tomatoes. Dinner: Often lighter and includes baked goods such as pies or cakes, and sometimes just fruit or drinks. The food my mom cooks is always the best, and I always try to learn from her because her food is so special!

9: What are your hobbies when you have time for yourself and not worry about school and homework?

I have a lot of hobbies because I am the type of person who always likes to try new things. But there are basic hobbies that I cannot do without, such as reading, dancing, watching movies and listening to music. I also like handicrafts and learning languages, and sometimes I find myself sewing, cooking, recycling clothes or I write or make dolls or draw, and a lot of things really. I don't worry much about school and homework, but exam days are a stressful time for me and I get stressed out quickly, and I tend to overthink those periods, to the point where I can't do anything but study.

10: What other places in Egypt do you like the most except Cairo? And did you visit the neighbour countries around Egypt?

I really like Alexandria a lot. It is a wonderful and charming city, and I have visited it more than once. Every time I visit, I discover something new and amazing, such as Qaitbay Citadel, the Library of Alexandria, the Roman Theater, in addition to its beautiful beaches. Even the food there is very special, such as liver, sausage, koshari, and hawawshi, all of which I like. As for traveling outside Egypt, in fact, I have never traveled before, so I have not visited any of the countries neighboring Egypt.

There are a lot of things i want to ask and say @Sarahsalah27!!! I ❤️❤️❤️ your answers a lot!!! But one thing i want to already say now is that if you visit so beautiful places in Egypt, it does not matter that you have not yet been in other countries. Because you are already in a super magical country!!! 🌞🥰🥰

In the last answer @Sarahsalah27 mentioned places in the city Alexandria. I looked on google and found these photos:

Qaitbay Citadel

Old library of Alexandria

New library of Alexandria

New library of Alexandria

The New Library of Alexandria is one of the most prominent cultural and historical landmarks in Egypt and the world. The modern library was built in 2002 as a revival of the ancient library, which was a beacon of science and knowledge in ancient times. The library includes millions of books in different languages, in addition to museums, conference halls, and art galleries. The library aims to promote culture and preserve human heritage, making it a symbol of civilization and knowledge.

As for Qaitbay Citadel, it is one of the most important historical landmarks in the city of Alexandria. It was built in the 15th century by order of the Mamluk Sultan Al-Nasir Qaytbay to protect the city from naval invasion. The castle is located on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, which was one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The castle is distinguished by its majestic design and its strategic location overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, making it a favorite destination for visitors to enjoy the history and stunning views.

⠀ PART III

11: You said that you want to study in England. What kind of subject would you like to study?

Actually, I have a great interest in two specialty that I want to study: the first is computer science, because it is mainly based on programming, and it is a specialty that gives me the opportunity to work in advanced fields such as AI, e-marketing, game and apps development, software design, and even editing.

I feel that this specialty keeps pace with the rapid development in the world and will give me the opportunity to be creative and work on important projects.

The second specialty is translation, because I like languages so much and I see it as a bridge for communication between cultures.

Studying translation will open up horizons for me to work in interesting and enriching fields such as translating books, movies, and more. or even working as a translator in companies when they receive foreign delegations.

12: If you can look in the future of your life, what is the thing that you would like to know and find out?

I think there are a lot of things I want to discover in my future life, like how I will live my life and how I will raise my children.

I would like to know if I will achieve my big dreams, such as studying that I want, and living in a place that I like. The future is full of secrets, and that is what makes it exciting.

13: What do your parents do for work in Cairo? Do they like their job? And would you like to follow them later in the job?

My dad works as an Arabic language teacher, and my mom does not work.

My dad loves his work so much because he loves the Arabic language.

For me, I don't want to follow my dad in his career for several reasons. Firstly, I don't like the teaching profession and feel that it isn't suitable for me, although some have told me that I explain English, history and science well to those younger than me. But I'm not convinced of that at all.

Secondly, I have different goals, and I don't want to stay in Egypt in the future.

However, I like the Arabic language because it is my mother tongue, and I believe in the importance of Egyptians learning it well. The problem here is that we don't speak the original Arabic language (fosha), but rather the Egyptian dialect, and this doesn't help in mastering the original Arabic language and learning it easily, and there is a lack of attention to it.

14: When is it normal to start living in your own house in Egypt? Would you want that when it is time to do that or do you prefer to stay as long as possible in your parents house?

For me, the idea of living in a private house may vary depending on the circumstances.

I am actually waiting for the day when I live in my own house outside Egypt, because this will be closer to realizing my dreams and ambitions. But inside Egypt, I don't think I will live in a separate house because, as I mentioned, I don't want to stay here in the future. Additionally, I want to stay with my parents and sister for as long as possible before I can travel and fulfill my plans.

15: Do you dream a lot? And do you believe that dreams tell things about the future or the past? And do you believe that you can communicate with people who have died? Do you believe they are in heaven or do you think something else?

For the first question, yes, I dream very often, and sometimes I have more than one dream in one sleep.

Actually, I never dreamed something that told me about the future, but my mom would tell me that she dreamed things and they came true more than once. As for the past, this happens to me; Sometimes I see dead people or certain situations from the past in my dreams.

For the second question, I don't believe that it is possible to communicate with people who have died.

As for Paradise, I cannot determine who will be in it and who will not, as these are matters that only God knows.

Thank you for your super nice answer again @Sarahsalah27!! 🙏🙏 I really hope that you can have your dreams about studying and living in another country!! And if you want to study computer programming you can also study with @Etienne and work for PPG!!! 😛

I also forgot to say last time that if anybody has questions for Sarah or wants to comment something you can do that below!! ⬇️⬇️
