Has China betrayed socialism? Politik und Regierungen

Reform and opening up, the restoration of capitalism, workers were exploited and oppressed...

My parents have a high evaluation of the reform and opening up, because as a Shanghainese, Shanghai is the city that has benefited the most from the reform and opening up, and people's living standards have increased rapidly. Therefore, I believe that reform and opening up is a good thing. Although reform and opening up is capitalism, I think that its people's living standards have improved significantly compared to before, and it is a good thing. As for the working class in China, I can only say that the times were different. In the 1950s and 1970s, China needed workers to vigorously build, but after the wave of layoffs in the 1960s, the worship of workers was completely shattered. This is not the period of planned economy, it can be said to be the period of capitalism, but at least communism has not disappeared in China. In areas where communism has disappeared, workers cannot be considered human at all. So I think we should support the CPC and hope that they can do a better job.

I think in China now the same thing happened in Soviet Russia after the revolution - The New Economic Policy (NEP), when private ownership of the means of production returned to a large extent, free trade developed, the state ceased to be a monopolist.

From January 1926 to January 1927, during the “heyday of NEP,” Deng Xiaoping, the future Chinese leader, was in the USSR. He gets acquainted with the works of N.I. Bukharin and observes with his own eyes the successes of the mixed economy. After Mao's death (1976), he becomes the leader of the CCP. In July 1979, he supported the creation of the Institute of Marxism-Leninism and the Ideas of Mao, which studies the NEP, primarily the works of N. I. Bukharin. Chinese social scientists are studying the works of Bukharin, who advocated a symbiosis of planned and market regulation, and noted the potential of the NEP economy. In 1985, Deng admitted that “the most correct model of socialism was the New Economic Policy in the USSR.” Deng Xiaoping, while supporting Bukharin's ideas, also condemns Stalin's repressions. In the 1980s, China, under the influence of Deng Xiaoping, embarked on the path of economic market reforms, combining individual entrepreneurship and government regulation, which led to the growth of industry and agriculture, and a rise in the standard of living of the population.
