So even b4 Gaza, life quality in Palestine has been low compared to Israel, where people have free speech. So would it be better in the long run for a more democratic government to take over Palestine? Don't get me wrong, I acknowledge the atrocities of Israel but doing bad things for a good cause might justify stuff to an extent.
My opinion: I don't care if Israel wins, I js want Palestine to be a more democratic place. But it's not like a regime will voluntarily step down without any conditions, there will always be bloodshed in one way or another.
I think the “doing bad things for a good cause” argument is pretty dangerous. In principle, almost any violence can be justified if we decide the end goal is sufficiently good. Decades of violence by Israel against the Palestinians haven't produced a democratic Palestinian state... in fact, it just created more radicalization, instability, suffering and hatred on both sides.
I don't think we have to choose between “supporting Israel” and “supporting Palestine.” It’s possible to condemn Hamas, oppose authoritarianism, acknowledge Israeli security concerns and at the same time condemn Israeli violations of Palestinian rights and support Palestinian self-determination.
