  • My interests in other cultures

I'm interested in history and people's way of life. And with the recent global movement which shines spotlight at the lesser known/smaller groups of people oppressed by dominant cultures in each country in the world, I'm keen to learn about them if I could get in touch with them through internet. How has their own way of life compromised to coexist with the dominant culture? That's a question I also wonder myself of my own country since the dominant culture (Central Thai language and theravada buddhism) must has changed my fellow Thais from different regions along the history.

  • My proudest accomplishments

Back in grade 9, I won the first place in the still life drawing competition among students in my city. Nowadays I draw a sort of semi-realistic anime instead of realism. 😛

  • I always enjoy talking about...

History, geography and cultures mainly, I also have a peculiar interest in Russian Navy's warships (you could say it's... something that weirdly stuck on me, growing up during the year the unfortunate incident of K-141 Kursk took place). However, my interest in these warships is only for the technology aspect - I do not support any war or political-driven conflict.

Also, I like Kievan Rus history in particular and always happy to learn anything new regarding the era of Yaroslav the Wise.

KHL hockey is the only sport competition I follow nowadays. My favorite team is Lokomotive Yaroslavl. I learned about the team from the tragedy in 2011 (I love aviation and a fan of Air Crash Investigation/Mayday series).

  • Cities and countries I have visited

Unfortunately I haven't traveled outside of Thailand yet. However, my bucket list includes Ex-Yugo countries, most countries in eastern Europe, Russia and I don't doubt there will be more countries to add to the list once I learn enough of their history!

  • Favourite books/authors/films

Films:: Neon Genesis Evangelion, (mostly Toho) Godzilla, Contact (1997), Twelve Years a Slave and U-571

  • I recently learnt...

I'm asexual and aromantic - which means I'm only interested in connecting with other people on platonic level.

In Thailand during the period I grew up, they lumped sexual identity and gender identity together. So for girls, they only had the 'Tom' label which meant both 'identify as male gender' and 'attracted to women' if they are not comformed to cis hetero women mould. Asexuality, non-cis gender and aromantic identities are pretty much non-existent in Thai society back then.

  • Making the world a better place

People from every country should reflect and 'dissect' the biased view in the history of their own country.

My country is not spared from this - the typical 'history' taught to students heavily demonized our neighboring countries. In every war, Thailand is either the 'hero' who fought against injustice 'imposed by a neighboring country' if we won, or we're victims tortured by the neighboring country if we happened to lose in that conflict. No one ever said a thing of what terrible deeds our country did to the neighboring countries when we won the war/captured their cities.

This needs to be changed. Every country in one way or another, built its propersity on the hardship/exploitation of neighboring countries/the land it absorbed. No one is 100% victim, no one is 100% hero. Every country is both at various points, and the 'winner' must accept their victory often accompanied by oppression/exploitation on people of the losing side.

  • It is better now

Internet is definitely a major changer. Now it's so easy to get in touch people from all over the world and learn about their way of life.
