  • Something uncommon about me

Hi! Afrafasti is my scout name; my real name is Inés.
And, since not much is uncommon about me, here go the most common things about me: I love reading, hiking, dancing, my cat (my cat is one of my favorite beings in the world), going on walks, eating, listening to podcasts and meeting friends to chat about many things and nothing, discuss movies and series and books... I also love quite a bit of alone time, I'm an introvert, and period novels are my absolute fave. I'd love to meet new people, learn new things and, hopefully, maybe practice my French and Portuguese...?

  • Favourite books/authors/films

I love reading, both contemporary and older novels and books. 17th-19th century novels, and especially (but not only) Jane Austen. I like to watch movies with kind, nice and light messages behind them, as well as beautiful photography.

  • Cities and countries I have visited

Cuba and Kampala are the furthest I've been, both in kilometers and in cultural differences. I would love to travel more, but I understand that the world is changing and we need to adapt, do things differently and appreciate that which is closer to us.

Other places I've been to (and loved): Paris, Bourdeaux and the Jura region (France), Greece (Athens, Olympia, Meteora), UK (Hampshire, London, Cornwall, Lake District and a bit of Devon), Istambul (on my way to Uganda), Düsseldorf, Idstein and Friburg (Germany), Sofia, some of Spain's beautiful places: Mérida, Asturias (love), Cantabria, País Vasco, Cádiz...

  • My opinion on human nature

It doesn't determine much. Education, culture and society shape who we are as individuals and groups.

  • I'm an expert at...

Nothing. I've trained as a cultural anthropologist and a contemporary historian, as well as leisure activities coordinator and, now, English teacher. But my passion, and my challenge, is teaching, especially History and Philosophy, and now I teach English (first official job).
I'm also quite a good organiser, if I do say so myself.

  • Living abroad for one year

I've lived in England for two years. I would love to live in France (the south), Canada, and maybe Iceland (if it's only one year).

  • Improving the school system

Cease all kind of competition. Cooperation is the key, and kindness is the way. Also, truly learning and not just memorising.
And talking, reflecting, reading about education is essential, we need to have a good filosofical base for it.

  • It is better now

    Clamness.

  • My proudest accomplishments

    Baking biscuits without a recipe.

  • I always enjoy talking about...

Books, thought, spirituality, History and (some) gossip. And learning things I know nothing about.

  • Making the world a better place

Scout since 2005, YES QUEEN. Leave every part of the world better than you found it.

  • 10 years from now

No idea. Hopefully somewhere nice, in a house with LOTS of sunlight and nature (as opposed to "urban" ) just 5 minutes away from my doorstep. I love the outdoors!

  • Personal skills

Moving my pinkie toe independently. And a special ability to bruise.

  • A trick or piece of advice

Stay with those that help you feel calm, inspired and centered.

  • I wish people knew more about...

    Listening
    Respect
    Menstruation.
    Mental Health

  • A personal challenge

Acknowledging and talking about mental health, and de-stigmatizing it.
