Hello, everybody! I now live in Spain, but I am a Swiss citizen.
Coming from a multicultural country, I am interested in learning more about the history and traditions of people from other cultures. I would love to travel the world sometimes, but so far I have only been to some European countries. It would be wonderful if I could make friends from all continents. I could also help you with your language learning process as I think that speaking and learning different languages can create meaningful bonds with other people.
I obtained a Master's degree in History (major) and English Literature (minor) in 2021 (magna cum laude). I am proud of that. 🙂
But I am just as proud of having been able to learn Portuguese on my own.
I was born and raised in Switzerland and lived for some years in Germany. I have travelled to the UK, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Austria, Italy and Spain. My favorite place to visit has without any doubt been London. I love the multicultural atmosphere and the many interesting touristic sites such as the London Eye or the MoMa.
My favorite books are 1984, The Great Gatsby, The pictures of Dorian Gray and Shakespeare´s Hamlet. As you can see, I really enjoy English Literature.
Other books that I like very much are Crónica de una muerte anunciada and La casa de los espíritus
Stay true to yourself.
Sometimes, we tend to put on fake personalities to impress other people, but is it really worth it? I do not think so. It is better to have a few good friends who like you for who you really are than 500 fake friends.
I regret not having visited any countries outside of Europe, but it is definitely a dream of mine to visit countries such as Argentina, Algeria, Brazil, Chile, Georgia, Jordania, Morocco, Peru, Turkey, Tunisia, Lebanon and Indonesia.
Oh, and I also regret dumbing myself down to please other people.
10 years from now, I will hopefully be able to speak 10 languages and have seen as many countries as possible.
And be a successful teacher.
I would say that I am very patient and good at learning new languages quite fast.
I always enjoy talking about politics, philosophical and religious questions, mysteries, music, literature, geography and social questions. But I dislike smalltalk.
I am not close to my parents. But I love my mother very much. We differ a lot when it comes to dating, travelling, religion, work life and gender roles.
Human nature is, in my opinion, very complex. When I was younger, I used to think that human nature was naturally good, but as I get older, I see lots of people acting in a Machiavellian way, which makes me wonder if most human interactions are triggered by selfish desires.
I feel concerned about inflation, wars and environmental pollution. And also about the lack of privacy on many online platforms. Also, I notice some kind of intolerance and insulting behavior disguised as "political correctness" (not saying that being political correct is always something bad, it is not)
Overrated: Skype conversations, Starbucks coffee, Netflix, Facebook
Underrated: postcards, history books, the 2000s
