  • Something uncommon about me

I'm a very good listener, and I love hearing other people's stories. Everyone has a story to tell.

  • Something to tell the world!

I have signed up for this community to write letters and emails, not to send instant messages, to chat or to make phone calls. So please don't ask to write me on WhatsApp. It is very clear to me that WhatsApp is not for writing letters. Since this is not Tinder or a dating site, I would like to remind that I'm not looking for a boyfriend, or a husband or any kind of love affair. I'm here to share experiences and make new friends, to train a good level of grammar and punctuation, and to practise the forgotten art of writing.

  • Favourite books/authors/films

I love reading, and I'd appreciate deeply every suggestion about novels and authors from other countries. My favourite writers are (among the many): Agota Kristof, Jonathan Franzen, Oscar Wilde, Guy de Maupassant, Heinrich Boll, Erich Maria Remarque, Ernest Hemingway, Donna Tartt, Bret Easton Ellis, Jay McInerney, Stephen King, all the italian post-war writers; I have also a passion for horror literature, from Edgar Allan Poe, Bram Stoker and Mary Shelley onward: the supernatural is far less terrifying than real life! 🙂
I love watching movies too, and going to the cinema is something I could not live without. It would be difficult to say which one I favour: to give an idea, I loved Matchpoint, by Woody Allen.
At the present time, the music that describes me better is Equinoxe 5, by Jean-Michel Jarre and the Mozart Clarinet Concerto.

  • Making the world a better place

When I was a child, I used to draw treasure maps, and spend the rest of the day in the school's garden with my mates, pretending to be on a desert island, looking for the pirates' treasure. I'm sure that the wish for adventure and imagination are the keys to happiness.

  • My interests in other cultures

I'm interested in every culture that is different from mine, different life experiences and styles; I'm a very curious person and I like to learn from other people's background and personal stories.

  • A personal challenge

To find that point deep inside you that is still inviolable and sacred, even when you are broken.

  • Life regrets

Not being able to keep studying music when I had the chance, and giving up with the the study of the clarinet 🙁

  • Personal skills

Trying always to have a good sense of humour.

  • Living abroad for one year

I would like to live on an island in the Mediterranean basin, like Malta, Creta, Cipro or the greek islands. I'm fascinated by the Mediterranean environment, since I have some sicilian roots. I'm not very good at finding a compromise between the better opportunities of the cities and the beauty of isolated, natural and unspoiled locations.

  • It was better before

The opportunity to see the marvellous movies of the 80's played in theaters for the first time!

  • I always enjoy talking about...

I love talking about litterature and cinema. But most of all I'm very curious to know what is daily life like in other countries and cultures: work, society, traditions, habits, difficulties, joy and personal challenges 🙂

  • My proudest accomplishments

The ability to reinvent myself from the ground up every time.
